In this role, you'll:
Work as a Test Equipment Technician – Future Mobility Testing to support the delivery of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) testing, research and development of future mobility technologies, vehicle safety innovation and technology development and TfNSW Road Safety research programs.
The Future Mobility Testing and Research Centre in Cudal was established to conduct testing and evaluation on emerging technology of Safety Assist features in cars such as autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning and lane keep assist functions in accordance with international and national protocols. Utilising robots capable of driving cars, articulated pedestrian targets and pilotable self-propelled car target (aka. GST – Guided Soft Target, or GVT – Global Vehicle Target), the Cudal test facility is the only one of its kind in Australia and is at the forefront of autonomous testing in Australia.
The dedicated and experienced Test Equipment Technician will help to ensure the seamless operation and management of our FMRTC testing equipment. You'll play a critical role in supporting daily test activities, troubleshooting on-track issues, managing inventory, and maintaining high standards of equipment quality and compliance.
This role will see you involved in a multitude of tasks including but not limited to maintaining all FMRTC equipment in working order to support the delivery of daily test activities, trouble shooting and issue resolution during testing, include on track support, stocktake and inventory management including planning, management and ordering of spares, consumables and parts to support planned test schedule. You will also be responsible for maintaining a technical workshop and developing quality and system management documents.

About you
We’re flexible on your background. We’re looking for someone with either tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical, Aviation, Mechanical or related), or someone who has a demonstrated experience in the technical, mechanical or electrical engineering, or automotive industries.
It Is also desirable that you have knowledge and experience with communication systems (GPS, network, and radio), Digital connectivity, robotics or connected and autonomous technologies.
You are curious. You have a demonstrated ability and desire to problem solve, investigate, seek solutions and think laterally when approaching new and unfamiliar technology. This is essential, as
You will be required to ensure equipment remains operational during test programs. Any experience in future mobility technologies, sensors or robotics would be highly regarded.
Importantly, you need to be able to work in a team environment who is willing to learn and has an ability to think outside the box.
This role requires testing beyond normal working hours, for example testing in night-time conditions. So, willingness to work outside regular working hours and travel on occasion. Work is at times physical and requires working extended periods outdoors in the elements.
