Job Position Summary: The Inspector ensures the integrity and suitability of manufactured goods for delivery to customers. Performs inspection of parts according to customer specifications.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Tech school preferred
- Mechanical aptitude
- Strong attention to details
- Organizational skills
- Basic computer skills
- Time-management skills
- Ability to use basic inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators.
- Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally.
- Required to pass annual eye exam by licensed optometrist.
- Required to pass the Certified Operator Program and maintain certification status
- Familiar inspecting a moderate amount of part numbers.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Intermediate computer skills. Fully understands Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) computer systems as it pertains to inspection.
- Familiar with non-basic measuring equipment (borescopes & surface profilometers)
- Basic understanding of 6S.
- Familiar inspecting a most part numbers.
- Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Experience in Aerospace industry EXTERNAL (Preferred).
- Ability to write nonconformance reports (NCR's).
- Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Familiar with all measuring equipment including gage blocks, thread gages, go/no-go gages.
- Ability to multitask and pivot from one task to another.
- Strong understanding of 6S.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to safety regulation and standard. Follow Safety culture and wear PPE when required.
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections of a small variety of part numbers.
- Enter inspection results into ERP system.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, operation process sheets and work instruction.
- Perform receiving inspection of raw material & parts received from outside processes.
- Use basic measuring equipment including but not limited to calipers, indicators, micrometers.
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections on a moderate amount of part numbers.
- Uses more complex measuring equipment including but not limited to /borescopes & surface profilometers.
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections on most part numbers.
- Uses all measuring equipment including gage blocks, thread gages, go/no-go gages.
- Writes nonconformance reports (NCR)
- Follow 6S procedures and maintain a clean organized work area.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Working Conditions:
- Normal Production environments, subject to high noise levels from operating machines; physical hazards from moving equipment and sharp machine parts; breathing fumes, dust and mist; skin exposure to oil and cutting fluid; exposure to sharp metal edges, and forklifts.
- May be asked to travel back and forth between Southwick and Westfield facilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have ability to read applicable customer documents with or without corrective lenses.
- May have to lift up to thirty (30) pounds at a time, as required.
- Ability to pass annual eye exam by licensed optometrist.
- Must be able to push, pull, reach overhead, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend and/or sit for long periods of time
