Job Summary:
The Communications Specialist will support all service functions to deliver consistent and high quality communications across the program. The role will both compose new communications and edit the work of others, ensuring high standards for readability, grammar, format and content. The Communications Specialist will help track communication output, audience acknowledgements, and measure and drive metrics associated with quality and effectiveness of communications. In addition, the role will contribute to the development and execution of strategic improvement initiatives and plans in the communications space. The person in this position should have a high level of confidence and experience in preparing and the publishing of communications.
Scope:
- Resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways
- Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of their speciality
- Works on problems of a diverse scope
- Receives little instruction on day to day work, general instruction on new assignments
Responsibilities:
- Work with program leadership to develop plans to effectively communicate strategic objectives and initiatives
- Partners with subject matter experts and management to draft and refine original content
- Support the Global communications program, on a daily and weekly cadence
- Manage multiple ticketing systems and intake processes for communications requests
- Draft, edit, lead review cycles and publish communications in a variety of formats within committed timelines
- Publish weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports quantifying and analyzing communications volumes and effectiveness
- Leverage available tools and technology to assess the impact of communication initiatives, and package resulting analysis for leadership consumption
- Support 100% organizational wide adoption of communication best practices
- Support hosting of live and recorded communication sessions across the organization
- Explore new potential communications solutions and support testing & implementation of these tools upon organizational adoption
- Participate in process improvement and streamline processes

Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from four-college or university and experience and 2 to 5 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Builds productive internal and external working relationships
- Strong collaboration, communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills to deliver high quality output
- Excellent organizational skills and superior attention to detail
- Proficiency with office document softwares, presentations and other related visualizations (i.e. Microsoft Office, Google docs/sheets, etc)
- Demonstrated strong writing and editing skills including the ability to package information for delivery across multiple digital platforms
- Support leveraging of analytics and reports to determine effectiveness and seek continual improvements of communication initiatives.
- Comfortable working in a global environment with a wide variety of cultures and skill sets while applying the highest degree of professionalism
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust quickly to changing priorities in a timely manner to meet commitments made to the client
- Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines through outstanding time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in IT logistics or relevant industries for familiarity with industry specific language
- Continued curiosity of available technology, tools and resources to support communications and tracking methods
- Technical aptitude to be able to adopt and integrate new technologies
- Creativity and an eye for design for effective communications
- Strong capabilities in relevant web-based publishing and software packages including InDesign and Photoshop, and platforms such as SharePoint, Constant Contact or Campaign Monitor is a big plus
- Applicable experience in using centralized communications tools, such as Slack, preferably at the admin level
- Functional experience in developing or supporting central communications repositories, preferably web hosted
Physical Demand & Work Environment:
- Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing
- Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment
- Must be able to use a computer
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively
- Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
