Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services, the Staff Clinician provides intake assessment, short term psychotherapy, consultation, crisis intervention, outreach and prevention services, and administrative duties as assigned by the Director.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide psychological consultation, assessment, brief individual psychotherapy, and group therapy services to students presenting with a wide range of psychological concerns.
Perform emergency procedures for the immediate management of mental health emergencies, both in the office during the regular business hours and on a rotating on-call basis after normal business hours.
Conduct informational and formal and informal mental health programming and outreach for campus community. Specifically, provide information about services and various mental health topics to students, staff and faculty.
Teach and supervise in graduate training program, as needed.
Recommend books, video, testing materials, and other materials for staff and trainee information and training.
Participate in University policy formation and program development to ensure positive mental health practices.
Assist in the facilitation of the multicultural competence of the CAPS staff and appropriate service provision for multicultural groups.
Assist in the development of referral sources for students who require off-campus mental health services.
Assist in the general administration of service operations.
Assist in the continual evaluation of services and the development of new programs to improve and expand services; assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures of the service to respond to current and future needs.
Contribute to campus-wide committees and task forces.
Maintain and enhance current knowledge of technological computer skills and software, clinical and theoretical issues relevant to the profession.
Maintain membership in appropriate professional organizations.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
Master’s degree from an accredited university in Clinical, Counseling or School Psychology (M.Ed., M.A., or M.S.) or similar field related to the position.
Minimum four years of professional work experience providing individual and group counseling services in an institution of higher education or similar organization. A Ph.D. or Psy.D. may be substituted for two years of professional experience.
Possess New Jersey Psychologist, L.C.S.W., L.P.C. or license, or be license-eligible and obtain the license within one year of hire.
Short-term psychotherapy expertise.
Experience working with diverse populations.
Excellent presentation skills.
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
PREFERRED:
Doctoral degree.
Successful completion of an APA Approved Internship.
Experience providing clinical supervision.
Spanish speaker.
