Training Department Supervisor
- Reports to Title: Director, Quality and Ops Training
- Department/Division: Operations
- Primary Work Location: Bloomington/Shakopee, Minnesota
- Job Code/Classification: Exempt
- Direct reports: Trainers, Training Administrator
- Working Environment: Open office environment, located near a manufacturing facility
- Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, lifting (no more than 40 lbs.)
- Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: On-site full-time position. Working Monday through Friday, with weekend support if necessary.
Position Overview:
This position is responsible for ensuring the continuous development and growth of our workforce. They will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of training within operations, ensuring that employees receive the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively. They will work closely with various departments to identify training needs, develop training programs, and assess their effectiveness while complying with applicable regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Training Program Development: Collaborate with leaders in operations to identify training needs across the organization. Develop and enhance training programs to address these needs.
- Training Delivery: Conduct training sessions for employees at all levels, ensuring that content is engaging, relevant, and aligned with organizational goals. Monitor and evaluate training delivery methods to optimize effectiveness and engagement.
- Training Material Creation: Develop training materials including presentations, handouts, and multimedia content to support training programs as necessary.
- Ensure that all materials are accurate, up-to-date, user-friendly and follow document control processes
- Performance Evaluation: Establish metrics to assess the effectiveness of training programs.
- Supervise and coach a team of trainers and administrative personnel, delivering support and recommendations to facilitate their professional advancement and accomplishments. Periodic evaluation of trainers to ensure standardized approach for training. Delegate tasks effectively and cultivate a collaborative and positive work environment within the training department.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure that all training activities comply with relevant regulations and internal policies. Maintain accurate records of training attendance, completion, and evaluations.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to training and development. Incorporate new methods and technologies to enhance training effectiveness and efficiency.
Required Skills:
- Highly developed presentation and communication skills, able to engage and inspire audiences from various backgrounds
- Detail Oriented
- Organized
- Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and other training-related software
- Experienced in overseeing numerous duties with an emphasis on prioritizing and timely execution in an evolving context
- Skill in working with minimal supervision
- Continuous Improvement Mindset
Desired Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in training and development, Education, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience leading people.
- Experience in designing and implementing employee training or development programs.
- Prior experience leading or managing a training program within a regulated environment.
- MS office experience
- Experience in learning management systems or other training-related software
- Certification in training and development (e.g., CPLP, CPTM)
- Previous experience in Medical Device Manufacturing or Distribution

Pay Transparency Notice:
- The target total compensation for this position can range from $90,000 – $105,000.
- Compensation for roles at GN depends on a wide array of factors including but not limited to location, role, skill set, and level of experience
