About this Position

We are looking for a Junior Life Underwriter to join our Underwriting Department.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Underwrite individual life insurance applications on an on-line system and will be responsible for risk appraisal and decisions
Communicate with agents, doctors, MIB and paramedical companies
Communicate and research as necessary with company re-insurer
Act as a resource for the Customer Service Department on Underwriting-related matters
Provide exemplary customer service to Field Representatives
Other miscellaneous duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

minimum 3-5 years’ experience in the insurance industry,
Strong technical and analytical underwriting skills
Demonstrate flexibility and ability to work as part of a team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work as required
Knowledge of Industry trends and practices
Bilingual communications (French) would be a definite asset
Post secondary education, as well as LOMA or ALU course would be a definite asset
Underwriting experience would be a definite asset
