Director, Data Strategy & Governance

The Role

Data Strategy and Governance is expanding to provide more data-driven oversight and governance of one of our most important enterprise assets: our data!

We are seeking a Director, Data Strategy & Governance to own the data issue oversight, influence lasting change across our organization, lead data access governance, and coordinate operational alignment across the Consolidated Data Services (CDS) domain, which is comprised of reference data management, advanced data analytics, vendor relations, research and market data services, and more.

• Track of high-profile issues, identify additional impacts, remediation, communication to business partners, and then extend lessons learned to other data points and subject areas that could have similar, undetected challenges.
• Ensure that the right individuals and applications, have appropriate access to Databases, APIs, Snowflake shares, and reporting dashboards by understanding the business unit, the usage context, and the limitations of the data set to consistently apply the right level of access.
• Work across Consolidated Data Services (CDS) domain to ensure consistency and discipline in our procedures, controls, and execution against risk items.

 The Expertise and Skills You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree required
• 10+ years’ experience working in financial services
• Strong understanding of data management concepts and principles
• Demonstrated ability to navigate and influence across an organization
• Strong analytical and intuitive skills; ability to perform root cause analysis and subsequent ramifications; is solutions oriented

• Experience working across disparate teams to drive change and influence without authority

• Computer literacy including creating PowerPoint presentations and taking large volumes and/or complex information and presenting is a way that is easy to understand. Experience with Data skills, Excel, SQL, Power BI a plus 

• Ability to engage high profile business partners as well as strategically collaborate with others in a team-oriented, fast-paced, and dynamic environment
• Laser-focused attention to details and deadlines

The Team

The team is part of Consolidated Data Services (CDS), the data domain within Fidelity Fund and Investment Operations (FFIO).   FFIO provides accounting and investment management support services for Fidelity mutual funds and other retail and institutional investment products.
