Position Summary: The Lead Enterprise Data Governance Analyst is a senior-level role responsible for developing and managing enterprise-wide data governance initiatives to ensure data quality, integrity, compliance, and accessibility. This role involves leading cross-functional efforts to establish and enforce data governance policies, collaborating with key stakeholders to address data-related challenges, and driving continuous improvement in the use and management of enterprise data assets. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in data governance, strong leadership skills, and the ability to align data management practices with organizational goals.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Data Governance Strategy and Leadership: Lead the design, implementation, and execution of the enterprise data governance framework, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Policy Development and Enforcement: Drive the creation, refinement, and enforcement of data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure consistent and compliant data management practices across the organization.
Collaboration with Stakeholders and Leadership: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, data stewards, and business units, providing strategic guidance on data governance initiatives and fostering a culture of data accountability.
Data Quality Oversight: Assist data owners and stewards in the process to define enterprise-level data quality metrics and lead efforts to monitor, measure, and improve data quality across multiple systems and business units.
Collaboration with Stakeholders and Leadership: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, data stewards, and business units, providing strategic guidance on data governance initiatives and fostering a culture of data accountability.
Metadata and Data Catalog Management: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of metadata repositories, data catalogs, and data dictionaries to enhance data discoverability, usability, and transparency.
Issue Identification and Resolution: Lead the identification, escalation, and resolution of data-related issues, ensuring enterprise-wide visibility and prioritization of critical challenges.
Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure data governance practices comply with legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations, including data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA). Mitigate risks related to data security, access, and misuse.
Training and Advocacy: Develop and deliver training and awareness programs to promote the adoption of data governance practices and ensure a consistent understanding of data-related responsibilities across the organization.
Reporting and Metrics: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of data governance initiatives and provide actionable insights to stakeholders and senior leadership.
Team Leadership and Mentorship: Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to junior analysts and data stewards, fostering a collaborative and results-driven team environment.
Experience:
Minimum of 8 or more in data governance, data management, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior analyst role.
Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise data governance frameworks in a complex organizational environment.
Expertise with enterprise data governance platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Strong knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA) and industry standards (e.g., DAMA DMBoK).
Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in SQL and experience with data modeling, metadata management, and data lineage tools.
Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Azure) and enterprise data architecture principles.
Experience with master data management (MDM) solutions is a plus.
Leadership and Communication:
Strong leadership abilities with experience managing cross-functional teams or data governance projects.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
Superior problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset to address complex data governance challenges.
