Summary
Directly responsible for overall operation, coordination, and continuous improvement of the Production, Maintenance, Warehouse, Receiving, and Delivery Departments. Provide production, storage, receipt from Suppliers and delivery of the Company’s products to the Customer, as well as insuring a safe, secure physical plant, warehouse, and delivery fleet for the employees.
The Operations Manager must have and maintain a high level of skill, proficiency, and professionalism in the business and technical aspects of the Production, Maintenance, Receiving, Warehousing & Delivery functions. This will be accomplished while managing to the plant goals of safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and customer service.
Due to the sensitive nature of much of the information processed by this position, a high degree of Integrity and Confidentiality must be maintained at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assures compliance with applicable laws and regulations pertaining to Department of Transportation (DOT), safety in the workplace, environmental issues, and fairness in hiring and management of employees.
- Responsible for supervising the Production of our product and Maintenance of the plant and all machinery.
- Responsible for managing the Receiving, Warehouse, and Delivery departments and ensuring equipment and labor is balanced to the operational needs of these critical functions.
- Ensures timely, efficient, high quality, and safe production and maintenance.
- Oversee the maintenance, safety, environmental compliance, and upkeep of all buildings, equipment, and physical grounds.
- Prepares reports that summarize and forecast production, maintenance, warehouse and delivery activities and performance.
- Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to changing conditions, machine availability, warehouse/delivery equipment, and labor loading.
- Coordinate with Quality Team to resolve customer complaints in a timely manner and adjust procedures to eliminate future occurrences.
- Provide on and off-hour emergency response including repairing equipment, stabilizing damages, and calling in support personnel as needed.
- Assist the GM in presenting updates and information on departmental activities at management meetings.
- Responds to GM as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate his informational needs and assist with projects as required.
- Communicate clearly and directly with employees concerning performance expectations, productivity, and accountability.
- Manages the processing of receipts and shipments in a timely and accurate manner in the computer systems used by SupplyOne.
- Develops, manages, coordinates, and oversees the Cycle Count program driving Inventory Accuracy improvement.
- Ensures the efficient and safe utilization of docks, equipment, and people to receive, store, and ship our products.
- Ensure effective and ongoing communication with Purchasing & Customer Service regarding any Finished Good items in a “tight” inventory supply status.
- Work closely with Purchasing & Accounting to achieve: Accurate inventories, accurate receipts, accurate invoices, accurate supplier chargebacks, and the timely return of defective material.
- Establishes and maintains processes and procedures and a monitoring system to ensure compliance by all personnel.
- Be involved with customer complaints to help resolve in a timely manner and adjust procedures to eliminate future occurrences of the same type.
- Direct employee training to improve effectiveness and ensure conformance with policies and procedures.
- Ensure the required safety procedures are followed.
- Hire, train, develop, and appraise staff effectively. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consult with Human Resources as appropriate.

Qualifications and Requirements

- Understand lean manufacturing principles.
- Experience with the box manufacturing, folding carton industry preferred; printing, packaging, and manufacturing experience a plus.
- Must be familiar with proper packaging methods and able to interpret visual aids used to convey specific packaging requirements.
- Thorough knowledge of operations management and logistics management including thorough skills knowledge and application.
- Experience with UPS/FEDEX online software is desirable.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, problem-solving & organizational skills, and team building experience.
- Ability to organize and plan work adhering to priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize and delegate multiple work projects.
- Strong attention to detail and mathematical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply technical data relating to position
- Able to perform all computer functions as they pertain to this job including but not limited to: Microsoft Windows, MS Office, MS Excel, and other proprietary computer programs.
- Computer literacy and Proficiency - Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the team member will:
- Consistently meet deadlines in a work area that is not temperature controlled and will be exposed to elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, oils.Be required to wear the appropriate protective equipment to accommodate the protection needs of the present hazard.Work on, or in close proximity with, moving forklift trucks.
- Safety glasses and safety toe shoes in the production and warehouse areas are required.
- Due to the nature of this position, on-site attendance at SupplyOne facilities and customer facilities is mandatory.
- Limited aspects of this job can be done remotely.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Operations Manager has supervisory responsibilities for Production, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Delivery employees.
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Required to successfully complete the Certified Packaging Specialist Program.
- A four-year college degree in a related field plus three years of management experience is recommended.
- Seven years prior experience in a variety of functional positions in a manufacturing and distribution company is also acceptable.
- APICS Certification is strongly recommended.
- The General Manager or the Human Resources Director can determine whether education and training are “equivalent” based on his/her experience.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Ability to read and comprehend moderate to complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write technical correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
