The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels and ensuring the timely ordering and delivery of supplies within assigned areas. This role supports clinical operations by managing supply locations, updating par levels, labeling shelves, and rotating stock to ensure product availability and integrity. The specialist enters all Storeroom and Linen Room transactions into the Workday Supply Chain Management system and communicates inventory issues to leadership and relevant departments. Additionally, the role assists with product conversions, evaluations, and recalls, ensuring smooth transitions and compliance with safety standards.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining inventory levels in assigned areas using the Workday Supply Chain Management system.
  • Ensures adequate stock turnover and proactively addresses potential shortages.
  • Accurately enters supply and linen issues, returns, and credits into the system.
  • Collaborates with Purchasing to expedite items that are out of stock or low in inventory; communicates status updates to leadership, Purchasing, and user departments.
  • Updates and maintains Par Stock documentation and ensures accuracy of supply levels.
  • Maintains proper shelf labeling and organization of all stocked supplies in designated areas.
  • Files requisitions and inventory reports in an organized and accessible manner.
  • Handles linen in accordance with hospital policy and Infection Control standards.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work environment in compliance with EOC, DOH, and Joint Commission (JC) standards.
  • Assists with product recalls, evaluations, and conversions to ensure smooth transitions and compliance.
  • Provides exceptional internal customer service by responding promptly and professionally to supply-related inquiries, resolving issues efficiently, and supporting clinical and non-clinical departments with their inventory needs.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

  • Ability to stand for up to 6 hours per day, in intervals of up to 3 hours at a time.
  • Ability to walk for up to 6 hours per day, in intervals of up to 1 hour at a time.
  • Ability to sit for up to 2 hours per day, in intervals of up to 1 hour at a time.
  • Frequent use of fingers and hands for data entry, stocking, and handling supplies.
  • Frequent lifting of items weighing up to 50 pounds using upper extremities.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, and reaching above shoulder level.
  • Ability to hear and understand normal conversation.
  • Visual acuity required for general, near, and peripheral vision, as well as tasks involving visual monotony.
  • Frequent pushing and pulling of carts weighing up to 500 pounds.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Training and Experience

  • Proficiency with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with Workday Supply Chain Management (SCM) preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal departments.
  • Prior experience in inventory control, supply chain, or healthcare materials management is a plus.

MINIMUM - MAXIMUM COMPENSATION PAY RANGE:

$17.20 - $25.80

St Luke’s University Health Network is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education.  We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on state requirements.
