The Microsoft 365 Operations Engineer provides daily operational and Level 3 escalation support to sustain Microsoft 365 service delivery, integrations, operational improvements, troubleshooting and resolution of service-impacting issues. The person in this role will have knowledge of Microsoft 365 technologies and will perform daily operations tasks, escalation support for core M365 services, service verticals, and integrations to support RSM lines of business and their respective portfolios. The Microsoft 365 Operations Engineer is a key enabler for IT and Business members, providing advisory guidance and solutions for complex challenges and participates in the delivery of the largest, most complex, and most strategic Microsoft 365 projects and roadmap strategy. Communication and professionalism are paramount as this role represents RSM Technical Services to effectively engage with technical and business teams as well as external providers of IT services.
The M365 Operations Team is responsible for the planning, design and implementation of M365, ensuring the environment is supported and resilient. The team provides escalation support for infrastructure, architecture, delivery, and operations, supporting M365 services and integrated systems, level 3 escalations for incident and problem management for these services and proactively ensuring continued operation and optimal performance.
Main duties
-Collaborate with M365 Operations team leadership to develop and implement technical standards, procedures and architectures to improve operational and escalation support for M365 service delivery. Supports internal development, functional technology, and project teams on a recurring basis.
-Utilize technical expertise to identify innovative solutions for daily operations and support of M36 service delivery, M365 hybrid and multi-geo environments and service verticals such as SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, OneDrive for Business, Teams, Stream, Power BI, Dynamics, e-Discovery PowerApps, Power Platform, AI, M365 Copilot, Copilot for Web, Copilot Studio and Azure Services and Lines of Business.
-Works in partnership with other IT and non-IT related professionals such as Developers, Architects, Project Managers and Business Analysts.
-Supports and implements net-new key M365 services and technologies utilizing standard DevOps and Infrastructure as Code toolset standards at RSM for these implementations. Achieve M365 service deployment and operational components through automation and integration using DevOps, Web Services and scripting technologies and tools. Integrate security standards and processes into daily work to meet and sustain compliance with RSM secure practices. Utilize technical expertise to identify and recommend service and functional improvements.
-Provides direct support for M365 services and technologies. Support 3rd party integrations, Enterprise Data set flows, and roadmap improvements in RSM M365 Hybrid Multi-Geo production, development and other environments that interact with RSM M365 technologies and services.
-Collaborate to help build a world-class, high-performing team and ensure operational proficiency.
-Participates in scheduled and unscheduled weekend/after-hours system maintenance and support. Performs rotational on-call duty.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent work history/experience or working towards achieving a degree.
Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals (Preferred), Microsoft Certified: Administrator (Preferred), Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Fundamentals (Preferred)
TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Experience supporting Enterprise-scale Cloud and Hybrid IT environments - Required
• Strong M365/O365 technologies knowledge – Required
• PowerShell knowledge – Required
• Management of M365 tenants– Required
• Azure Active Directory – Required
• Technical expertise working with M365 hybrid environments, Exchange Online, Azure AD, Dynamics 365, Power BI, SharePoint Online, Stream, Teams, OneDrive for Business, e-discovery and conditional access. – Required
• Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Microsoft 365 Copilot – Preferred
EXPERIENCE
• Technical expertise supporting Enterprise-scale Cloud and Hybrid IT environments – Required
• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, network and directory services - Required
Experience in the following areas preferred:
• 2+ years of M365 Operations support and administration – Required
• Proficiency Administering Advanced Enterprise Directory Services – Required
• Azure Active Directory - Required
• Managing Conditional Access and Advanced Enterprise Security policies for M365 tenants – Preferred
