A DAY IN THE LIFE

Reporting to the VP, Corporate Controller, this role is expected to:

1. Global Tax Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute global tax strategies to optimize effective tax rate (ETR) and cash tax position.
  • Advise on tax implications of cross-border transactions, expansions, acquisitions, and divestitures.
  • Perform analyses on legal entities structure, intercompany financing, and intellectual property ownership for tax efficiency.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors to evaluate and implement tax incentives, credits, and jurisdictional benefits.
  • Coordinate with Treasury and Legal to plan and manage tax-efficient repatriation strategies.
  • Monitor global tax reforms (e.g., OECD BEPS 2.0, Pillar Two) and assess business impacts.

2. Transfer Pricing

  • Design and maintain transfer pricing policies.
  • Oversee preparation of Master File, Local Files, and Country-by-Country Reports.
  • Monitor intercompany transactions for arm’s length compliance.
  • Manage transfer pricing audits and defend positions.

3. Tax Compliance Oversight

  • Oversee timely and accurate filing of all corporate income tax, provide inputs as necessary for indirect tax (VAT/GST/sales/use), and withholding tax returns globally.
  • Manage and coordinate estimated income tax payments, extensions, and tax registrations in all jurisdictions.
  • Maintain and monitor a global tax compliance calendar.
  • Coordinate with local advisors and partners for country-specific requirements.

4. Tax Accounting & Reporting

  • Lead quarterly and annual tax provision process with external tax advisors and cross functional teams under US GAAP/IFRS.
  • Roll forward and reconcile deferred tax assets and liabilities.
  • Assess uncertain tax positions and ensure appropriate disclosures.
  • Provide tax footnote inputs for SEC filings and statutory accounts.
  • Ensure accuracy of tax accounts in the general ledger.

5. Audit & Risk Management

  • Serve as primary contact for tax authorities worldwide.
  • Manage audit responses, documentation, and negotiations.
  • Maintain a global tax risk register and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Review contracts for tax exposure and advise on tax clauses.

6. Operational Excellence & Technology

  • Streamline and automate tax data collection and reporting processes.
  • Ensure robust internal controls over tax processes to meet SOX and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain tax records in accordance with statutory retention laws.

7. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with FP&A on forecasting ETR and tax cash flows.
  • Partner with Treasury on intercompany funding and repatriation planning.
  • Collaborate with Legal on M&A structuring and contract review.
  • Educate business units on tax implications of strategic and operational decisions.

8. People Leadership

  • Build tax knowledge and capabilities across finance and accounting teams.
  • Foster a high-performance culture within the tax function.

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; with a CPA license

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in corporate income tax compliance, income tax provisions and strategy

  • Preferably a mix of experience in a top-ten public accounting firm and a large ($500M+) publicly traded company with global operations.

  • Hands-on experience with income tax provisions, income tax returns, quarterly estimate computations, state apportionment; with familiarity around M&A tax diligence, IRC §338(h)(10) analysis, and international tax implications with transfer pricing

  • Technical US GAAP knowledge, with a deep understanding of ASC 740 and corporate taxation

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. Hands-on and results focused.

  • Ability to deliver thoughtful, accurate and timely work products

  • Navigate a dynamic, fast-paced, rapidly growing environment, and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills (Excel, Power Point, Word)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
