Description

Simpson College seeks an experienced Chief Information Officer (CIO) to serve as the principal technology leader, driving innovation and efficiency across the institution. The CIO will anticipate and align IT strategies with institutional goals while ensuring data security, operational excellence, and service quality for the campus community. This role includes managing technology personnel, IT projects, and strategic initiatives to support the institution's academic and administrative functions.

Reporting to the Vice President for Business and Finance, this individual will work closely with college leadership to develop and implement IT strategies that align with our institutional mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a technology vision and strategic IT roadmap in collaboration with the CFO and Technology Steering Committee.
  • Lead and mentor the IT services team, including the information security officer, ensuring professional development and service excellence.
  • Oversee IT infrastructure, data security, and technology investments, aligning with institutional priorities.
  • Drive digital transformation by integrating emerging technologies and improving user experiences.
  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with vendors, higher education networks, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with IT security policies, industry regulations, and best practices in higher education.
  • Plan and manage IT budgets, resources, and technology policies to optimize service delivery.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in a technical leadership or IT supervisory role.

Skills & Expertise:

  • IT strategic planning, budgeting, and personnel and vendor management
  • Strong project management experience, including system upgrades and new implementations
  • Knowledge of networking, computing, and telecommunications technologies
  • Proficiency in SQL database scripting, software administration, and data integrations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Commitment to customer service excellence

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in higher education IT leadership
  • Familiarity with Ellucian Colleague ERP Systems
