What you'll be doing:

  • Ensure performance, compliance and material quality of plastics facility operations, including quality sampling of all process inputs and analysis of outputs to meet EC 1935/2004 standards

  • Manage and lead a laboratory and sampling team of 6 direct reports, including day-to-day operations, performance management, scheduling, and succession planning

  • Maintain comprehensive quality management systems including document control, training records, complaints registers, non-conformance tracking, and internal audit programs

  • Oversee critical equipment calibration programs and manage laboratory accreditation and resourcing to ensure accurate testing and measurement capabilities

  • Handle customer-facing responsibilities including professional management of customer concerns and complaints to exceed NPS targets, while providing expert technical advice and reporting

  • Ensure regulatory compliance across multiple areas including HACCP programmes, food contact recycled plastics regulations, REACH regulations, cosmetics regulations, and effluent discharge monitoring

What we're looking for:

  • UK Formal Science or Quality Assurance qualification with extensive knowledge of laboratory procedures and practices within the process or similar industry

  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent qualification with comprehensive knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and processes

  • Experience in managing laboratory practices and multi-faceted stakeholder relationship management, including clients, contractors and members of the public

  • Proficiency in statistical analysis techniques such as SPC, Capability analysis, ANOVA, and Gage R+R studies with ability to analyse data and communicate to non-technical audiences

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with ability to work in a multi-project environment, produce reports, meet deadlines, and provide client-facing support
