The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for qualified and experienced individuals in the position of Senior Advisor - Business Development.
About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Adviser - Business Development to support its National Content strategy through the empowerment of landowner companies, SMEs, and community-based enterprises. This role is responsible for providing targeted capacity-building, ensuring regulatory compliance (with IPA, IRC), and fostering sustainable economic development in communities associated with the Porgera Gold Mine.
Reporting to the Principal – National Content, you will play a critical role in ensuring that local businesses are fully equipped to participate in the company’s supply chain and broader economic ecosystem. This role will be a back-to-back role.
In this role, you will.
- Design and implement all business development activities to achieve NPL’s objectives
- Support, mentor, and build capacity of landowner businesses, local SMEs, NGOs, and entrepreneurs.
- Conduct needs assessments to identify gaps in operational capacity, business skills, governance, and financial management.
- Provide advice and support to Local companies on Commercial Partnerships and Joint Ventures to supply higher tech goods and services and assist with screening of potential partners
- Facilitate and deliver training sessions, workshops, and advisory support on topics such as governance, charters, policies, business planning, board reports, financial management, procurement, and tax compliance.
- Develop BD proposals for consideration and approval by the National Content Principal and Sustainability Manager.
- Ensure that supported businesses are fully registered with the Investment Promotion Authority (IPA) and meet ongoing Internal Revenue Commission (IRC) obligations.
- Guide local companies on the preparation and submission of required corporate governance documents, annual returns, and tax compliance records.
- Provide daily and weekly reports and plans to the National Content Principal. Contribute to Quarterly and Annual reporting as required.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, or SME Development from a recognized university.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ relevant experience in business development, SME support, or enterprise advisory roles.
- Sound understanding of local content requirements and community development frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of IPA and IRC compliance procedures and corporate registration requirements in PNG.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering training, mentoring, or advisory services to local or landowner companies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Outlook) and SharePoint; familiarity with business development tools and reporting systems is an advantage.
- Fluency in English and Tok Pisin; knowledge of Ipili or Engan is highly regarded.

Mobilization Requirement
This is a PNG National Staff position. Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
This role is offered on a FIFO basis with a 21/14 roster and a highly competitive remuneration package.
