Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is hiring an Environmental Services Supervisor to lead and coordinate the custodial operations across KMHS facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, clean, and welcoming environments while supervising the Environmental Services (EVS) team and collaborating with leadership to meet regulatory standards. The Environmental Services Supervisor oversees daily operations, quality initiatives, inventory, and compliance measures to ensure facilities are maintained at the highest level of cleanliness, safety, and customer satisfaction.



Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Environmental Services staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and staff development.
  • Manage cleaning programs in compliance with APPA Custodial Standards, infection prevention protocols, and organizational safety policies.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations for waste management, including separation, packaging, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Oversee EVS Worxhub system to monitor and improve response times, generate reports, and implement quality improvement activities.
  • Conduct regular inspections and rounding to assess hygiene standards, reporting outcomes to the Facilities Manager and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Oversee inventories, track supply usage, and coordinate ordering of consumables, equipment, and repairs.
  • Prepare masterwork schedules and approve adjustments to daily staffing and assignments.
  • Supervise subcontractors and external EVS vendors as needed.
  • Promote a culture of safety and patient-centered service, modeling infection control and risk management practices.
  • Respond to emergency calls and adjust staffing to minimize service disruption.
  • Interview staff and clients to assess satisfaction and identify opportunities for improvement in cleanliness and service delivery.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and monitor budgets, control expenditures, and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Report facility or equipment damage, security concerns, and safety hazards promptly.
  • Participate in departmental quality initiatives, contributing to improved patient experience and cleanliness scores.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years of job-related experience as lead or supervisory experience
  • This position requires driving clients in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency; therefore, the incumbent must meet agency driving requirements, including meeting the minimum age requirement of 21 years old, successfully completing a motor vehicle history check, possessing and maintaining a current, valid driver's license in the state of Washington, and having reliable, insured transportation.
  • Background check required

 

Preferred Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE: 

  • 4 years in environmental services and or acute care-related support departments.
  • 5 Year in supervisory level experience managing staff.
  • OSHA 30 Certified
  • Bilingual 

 

Performance Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Familiarity with APPA Custodial Standards, cleaning methods, materials, and equipment, including the operation of heavy commercial cleaning equipment such as high-powered buffers, vacuum, and commercial laundry equipment.
  • Leadership techniques, principles, and procedures to assign work, schedule, and train staff.
  • Safety Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, methods, and techniques associated with using chemicals and standard cleaning equipment.

SKILLS:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all team members and management levels.
  • Strong Working Knowledge of MS Office.
  • Demonstrates strong working knowledge of environmental infection prevention and control principles.

 

ABILITIES:

Demonstrated ability to:

  • Understand safety data sheets and safe chemical handling practices. 

 

Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment, including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc. To include floor care equipment

 

Work Environment: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as weather, dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, machinery, vibrations, chemicals, blood, and bodily fluids. Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods.

 

Mental/Physical Requirements

Requires:

  • The ability to function indoors in an office environment and outdoors engaged in physically active work. 
  • Ambulatory ability to move to different work locations, bend, stoop, climb, and perform inspections.
  • The ability to wear various protective equipment, work in areas with extreme temperature variation, and work in cramped or uneven spaces.
  • Visual acuity to observe work sites, read written materials, blueprints, plans, and schematics. 
  • Auditory ability to carry on conversations in person and over the phone, including projecting voice in noisy work settings.
  • May require the ability to lift from the floor, waist, or overhead objects up to 75 pounds occasionally.
