Position Summary
Participates in planning, organizing, and executing information, external relations, public involvement, and environmental education activities on the unit, to develop experience in various phases of public affairs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Supports the Public Affairs Officer in daily tasks, such as monitoring the media outlets and answering questions from the public. Prepares media coverage reports. Provides support for community, partners, and Forest events. Assists in the creation and management of content across social media platforms and websites. Develops written or audio-visual stories. Under close supervision prepares information releases and programs for the press, radio, schools, and television to disseminate information about the mission, programs, and activities of the Forest Service. Drafts pamphlets, brochures, booklets, etc., and as directed, arranges for printing. Presents programs to groups on Forest Service programs and activities. Drafts assigned portions of programs. Prepares audio-visual programs, according to instructions, for both specific presentations and for broad repeated use. Assists the PAO in developing briefing papers and talking points on forest operations, recovery efforts, projects, accomplishments, and forest plan implementation and partnerships.
Marginal Duties
Answers routine requests for information about the Forest Service and its programs.
Required Qualifications
Personal Vehicle Required.
This SCA Position is authorized under the Public Land Corps Authority. All participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger. Participants must also be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States. Hours served can be applied toward the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority.

Living Accommodations
Housing not provided. Housing allowance provided.
Compensation
- Living Allowance: $750 per week
- Relocation Travel allowance: $800 one-time
- Housing and commuter allowance: $1,050 per month
All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
