POSITION SUMMARY
Under the leadership of the Director of Safety and Security, this position provides direction to the Safety and Security team. Contract compliance and management of Security vendors in all assigned areas in order to maintain a safe environment for all residents, employees, vendors, and visitors and the protection of property and assets.
This position must be able to identify and implement security strategies collaboratively with Portfolio Managers, Private Property Managers, and Key Stakeholders both internal and external to the CHA to ensure effective and efficient use of resources.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate with property management and the CHA in ongoing review of current security programs and initiate the development of new security strategies, as needed, at all facilities assigned.
- Create, analyze, and utilize data to be used for security strategy and resource allocation.
- Keep informed of all security matters addressed by Emergency Services to respond in the absence of the Director of Safety and Security.
- Train and supervise SAS team in their efforts to coordinate with various law enforcement agencies in the distribution of relevant video footage.
- Evaluate and recommend additions to the CCTV network, as well as coordinate with ITS in camera placements for new projects.
- Maintaining a current and comprehensive knowledge of law enforcement procedures, statutes and activities.
- Collaborate with all stakeholders on the design and implementation of security program strategies, and the ability to seek and gain consensus on creative solutions to complex security issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 8-10 years of law enforcement and/or security experience, including a minimum of 3 years of experience supervising/managing teams. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Clear and effective oral and written communication skills are critical; as is the ability to promote the open flow of information by actively soliciting and listening to the ideas of others; effective negotiation and excellent analytical skills are necessary. The proven ability and commitment to being discreet, tactful, timely and operating judiciously when addressing internal and external customer needs are required. Diplomatic interpersonal skills, which allow successful candidate too effectively, relate to all levels of associates and vendors. This position requires a valid State of Illinois Driver’s License.
