Position Overview: The Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing, recording, and reporting the facility's inventories, including consumable items like brushes, strainers, and packaging materials, as well as stock and non-stock inventories of paint. This role ensures visibility of inventory levels to all relevant departments and works closely with department managers and production leads to maintain appropriate inventory levels. The role also reviews paperwork for accuracy against customer and company standards.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management: Manage, record, and report facility inventories to ensure visibility to all relevant departments.
- Collaboration: Work closely with department managers and production leads to ensure inventory supplies are at appropriate levels within the inventory distribution areas.
- Cost Management: Monitor inventory distribution areas and hold employees accountable for appropriate usage to manage supply costs.
- Procedures Oversight: Oversee inventory management procedures.
- Optimization: Manage stocking, optimizing, and allocation of inventory supplies using data gathered from count sheets and history.
- Quality Assistance: Assist the Quality Department by validating certifications and intended product usage.
- Inspection: Inspect incoming shipments to verify orders are accurate, intact, and on-time.
- Maintenance: Maintain appearances and conditions of assigned areas and equipment, and report needed repairs, safety hazards, or conditions requiring attention.
- Accuracy: Review and verify all job paperwork prior to shipment, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with customer and internal requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Record and report errors and performance for Key Performance Indicators
- Training and Improvement: Participate in applicable ongoing training sessions and continuous process improvement programs and take part in periodic testing and performance evaluations.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Must be a detail-oriented, organized, self-starting individual with excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision with latitude for independent action and decision making.
- Ability to prioritize effectively to complete tasks with consistency and accuracy.
- Must possess advanced computer skills with a comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with implementing inventory management systems is a plus.
- Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and efficiently work in a fast-paced environment requiring lifting up to 50lbs and continuous walking for long periods of time.
- Knowledge of F.I.F.O. (First In, First Out) and F.I.L.O. (First In, Last Out) inventory methods.
- Ability to gather, organize, and effectively report information to management.
- Must be able to develop comprehensive product, supply, and service knowledge.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move inventory items as needed.
- Standing, walking, and bending for extended periods.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree or some coursework preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software/systems as required.
- Advanced arithmetic skills (i.e., add, subtract, multiply, divide).
- Bilingual in Spanish/English is a plus.
- Individual must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- This position requires access to ITAR-controlled information and materials. The successful candidate must meet all ITAR eligibility requirements, including being a U.S. person as defined by ITAR.
Reports To: The Coatings Inventory Control Specialist will report to the Inventory Control Coordinator and regularly interface across all levels of the organization.
Hours: Standard hours for the Coatings Inventory Control Specialist are 6 AM – 2:30 PM. Must be flexible to work overtime and additional hours as needed.
