Overview:
The Registration Specialist II plays a key role in ensuring smooth patient flow and accurate data collection from entry to service. This position is responsible for gathering financial and demographic information, scheduling appointments, explaining charges and policies, validating and entering charges, and collecting payments. The role also includes answering calls, directing patients and visitors, and mentoring team members as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate timely and professional patient registration and flow.
Collect and verify patient information for accurate records and billing.
Schedule appointments and explain departmental/hospital policies.
Enter charges and collect payments at the time of service.
Answer incoming calls and assist or direct as appropriate.
Precept and support Registration Specialist team members.
Qualifications:
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Preferred:
1+ year of experience in a healthcare setting
Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
Familiarity with insurance processes and medical terminology
Time-of-service collections experience
BLS Certification (AHA)
Technical Skills:
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Certifications:
Required: CMAA Certification
Note: Current Sr. Registration Specialists will be grandfathered into Level II and prioritized for certification exam cohorts. Certification must be achieved within one year of career ladder implementation to maintain role and pay level.

Must complete the Registration Specialist II Checklist successfully.
