Description
The Meet Boston Senior Public Relations Manager?supports and manages a full complement of public relations and travel media initiatives. The individual reports to the Vice President of Strategic Communications while working closely with the marketing, partnership, and executive teams. The Senior PR Manager is a critical player in growing a public relations program, and associated reporting apparatus, to increase brand awareness for the destination through a robust earned media strategy. This position plays an integral role in the management of Meet Boston’s agencies and overall project management for the Communications team. The Senior PR Manager will be very involved in the enhancement of the Meet Boston Press Room, including the curation of media assets and storytelling hooks.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the management of all Meet Boston public relations agencies, both domestic and international, including a primary role in the strategic operations of the agencies, the efficacy of their reporting and measuring success.
- Creating comprehensive reporting structures for our internal team and external stakeholders to see the results of Meet Boston’s editorial efforts.
- Leading in the enhancement of the Meet Boston Press Room, including the development of media-facing assets – journalist newsletter, media kits, story starters, FAM itinerary ideas and on-pagers – that reflect the editorial pursuits of Meet Boston and help to generate robust earned media results through authentic storytelling.
- Onboarding Meet Boston partner agencies on the main themes, topics and editorial objectives of the organization.
- Working with the Communications Coordinator to review media inquiries that come through our media relations inbox and vetting/approving asset requests.
- Leading efforts to interface with travel media – bloggers, editors, travel writers – through a systematic pitching and follow up structure.
- Supporting the VP of Strategic Communications in managing Meet Boston’s growing portfolio of international PR agencies.
- Identifying signature and niche storylines – including diversity, culinary, neighborhoods, sustainability, and cultural experiences – and inviting travel media to explore these angles.
- Representing Meet Boston at travel media conferences and at PR/media conferences happening in key markets or in partnership with other DMOs.
- Collaborating with Meet Boston’s marketing team to write blogs and assist in adding articles to the Press Room and other microsites and Landing Pages that reflect earned media results.
Position Details:
- Full-time, exempt position
- Hybrid work schedule – 3 days in office / 2 days remote; hybrid schedule is subject to change in the future.
- The position could require occasional evening work.??
- The position will require occasional travel to conferences and media mission
Requirements
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in communications and public relations.
- Prior experience in brand development and destination marketing, hospitality and/or tourism sector strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in the area of PR agency management and project management.
- Ability to analyze research in establishing key performance indicators and overarching goals and connecting these metrics to a communications strategy.?
- Strong analytical ability and experience applying metrics to media relations development, tracking of return on investment, sharing with partners and stakeholders.?
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills to effectively inform and engage internal and external audiences.?
- Desire to grow in the position by keeping abreast of key trends and engaging in professional development opportunities where appropriate.?
