Jobs Supervised:      Manage the development, performance and effectiveness of all site Quality Managers and their staff.       

Basic Function:

Lead and unify quality assurance efforts across all North American industrial manufacturing sites. This role will be responsible for developing and executing a corporate quality strategy, ensuring compliance with industry standards / codes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

  • Lead and mentor a team of site-based Quality Managers and their staff across multiple factory locations.
  • Develop and implement a unified corporate quality management system (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001, or other relevant quality management system standards.
  • Participate in the annual Strategic Deployment process.  Execute action plans and countermeasures to achieve cascaded strategic initiatives.
  • Establish and monitor key quality metrics (KPIs) across all sites; drive accountability and performance improvement.
  • Effectively communicate QA team objectives and performance to the Cleaver-Brooks management team.
  • Coach site quality leaders to be effective managers of both day-to-day and strategic improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with operations, sales, engineering, and customer care teams to resolve quality issues and implement preventive measures.
  • Lead internal and external audits; ensure compliance with regulatory and customer-specific requirements.
  • Standardize quality processes, documentation, and reporting across all locations.
  • Champion a culture of customer focus, quality assurance, and continuous improvement, throughout the organization.
  • Provide coaching, training, and professional development to your team
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for major customer quality concerns and escalations.
  • Work with Strategic Sourcing  to insure quality of all purchased parts.
  • Must have ability to travel - generally by air and utilization of a rental car - regularly, in conducting position responsibilities.  Includes ability to handle luggage and attaché’ cases, etc. normal to business travel of varying length duration.          

Other DutiesAs directed.

Education:      Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Experience / Ability:            

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in quality management within industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Proven leadership experience managing multi-site quality teams.
  • Customer-focused with strong service orientation
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 / IATF 16949, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and the Internet
  • Ability to travel regularly to factory locations on the East Coast (Canada, US, Mexico).

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), Six Sigma Black Belt, Certified Lead Auditor.

  • Plant Quality Assurance Managers

Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:

  • Microsoft Office, CRM (Salesforce preferred), and ERP (IFS Preferred)
  • Advanced understanding and ability to apply root cause analysis techniques
  • Ability to create and implement a quality management system across remotes sites where there is little common practice. This requires strategic thinking to design then implement systems where only general principles of quality management exist.
  • Self-starter with strong communication skills
  • Working financial knowledge and an understanding of P&L
  • Process oriented Team Builder

Travel:

  • As required to support the essential duties. Travel by automobile and plane required 30%+.  East Coast (Multi-site oversight)

External Contacts:

  • Supply base, Cleaver-Brooks representatives, Cleaver-Brooks end customers, third party certification auditors.

Physical Skill and Effort:    

  • Limited manual dexterity required. Work requires infrequent physical effort.

  • Exposure to manufacturing areas which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as protective shoes, hard hats, safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
  • Exposure to industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Communicate (hearing and speech) with individuals in person and by phone
  • Maintain a minimum of 8 hours worked/day, 5 days/week
