Tenaska, Inc. is looking to hire an Optimization Analyst position in Irving, Texas. The position will actively participate in the development of energy resource optimization technologies. The essential job functions are as follows: Collaborate with the Vice President of Strategic Technology and the broader team to develop and implement optimization solutions for energy storage and other energy-focused initiatives. Work with Senior Energy Optimization Analyst and team to manage and improve existing optimization tools. Develop necessary market expertise in Power Markets and power resource optimization. Create diagnostic, visualization, and benchmarking tools for optimization projects. Analyze and troubleshoot results of optimization solutions. Other projects as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Position requires a Master of Science degree in Physics, Mathematics, Industrial / Electronical Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field, and 3 years’ experience in a related occupation. Experience must include the following specific experience and abilities:
- 3 years’ experience in applied optimization
- 3 years’ experience programming and debugging in C and C++
- 3 years’ experience with building C extensions for Python
- Expert-level experience with optimization tools such as CPlex and Gurobi
- Experience with machine learning libraries and algorithms such as PyTorch
- Experience with machine learning data preparation concepts (cross validation, folding, boosting, feature engineering) with clear understanding of time series related concerns
- Experience with building test frameworks for optimization purposes as well as other types of applications
- Experience with programming in Python including experience with data preparation and transformation with Numpy and Pandas Python libraries
- Strong background in Deep Learning algorithms as applied to optimization and control problems with specific experience in Reinforcement Learning and other training methods
- Exhibited skills in applied computational mathematics, optimization, and simulation programming
