As a Bodily Injury Adjuster, you will adjust third party General Liability, Auto Liability, Errors and Omissions, and Law Enforcement claims in which a claim exists for bodily injury, personal injury or wrongdoing. This role is a full-time, home-based position that may require travel at times to claims meetings at client locations, seminars for obtaining CEU credits, and scene investigations or inspections.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all duties as outlined in the Property Damage Adjuster Job Description
- Daily review of workflow and claim system reminders with follow up and significant progress towards completion of any task set as a reminder, or received in workflow within 72 hours
- Review of new claims assignments within 24 hours of assignment/Completion of the Plan of Action
- Contact with the insured/claimant within 24 hours of assignment
- Assign appraisers or coordinate the receipt of estimates of damage according to client guidelines or approval
- Determine if estimates or appraisals are appropriate based upon reported damages and other evidence
- Gather evidence of damages
- Interview or obtain recorded statements from the claimant, the Insured and any witnesses
- Request payment authorization according to client guidelines and Davies Claims North America policy and procedures
- Follow client guidelines for any claim denial
- Obtain internal investigation reports from the insured (client) when permitted by the client
- Professional and timely communication with the client
- Determine degree of attorney involvement, if any
- Always act with the utmost good faith in handling of the claim from beginning to closure
- Set reminders within the claim system for necessary follow up in an appropriate time frame
- Accurately record any communication, or activity relevant to the claim; in the claim system notes
- Follow procedures to image documents sent to you that are relevant to the claim file (including e-mail)
- Meet the requirements of Continuing Education as required for licensure as an adjuster
- Maintain a 95% claim closure ratio
- Report to the Excess carrier on any claim that meets the requirements to do so (including status reports)
- Immediately notify your supervisor and the client of any Summons and Complaint received, identify assigned defense counsel, communicate and cooperate with defense counsel
- Obtain status reports from defense counsel at 90-day intervals
- Read and Understand the Excess Carrier Insurance Policy
- Run ISO ClaimSearch on injured claimants
- Determine the injury status of all persons involved in a crash investigation
- Interact with insurance adjusters from other companies to obtain information needed to process your claim
- Respond to Reservation of Rights letters from Excess Carrier if necessary
- Develop working knowledge of No Fault/PIP law
- Enter necessary information into the claim system to ensure mandatory reporting to Medicare
- Follow Davies Claims North America guidelines when settling claims involving a Medicare recipient
- Check for the claimant’s compliance with F.S. 768.28 Sovereign Immunity
- Recommend/assign field adjuster as necessary
- Review field adjuster reports for thoroughness and accuracy.
Skills, knowledge & expertise
- College degree or equivalent experience
- Possession of Adjuster license
- Maintain CEU credits for Adjuster license
- Excellent knowledge of Tort Law, bad faith procedures and case law, as well as principles of liability and medical terminology
- Previous experience with settling bodily injury claims
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Proactive, independent, dependable, and takes initiative with consistent follow through
- Superb written and verbal communication skills conducted in a timely manner with diverse audiences
- Superior time management skills with capability of working with and meeting deadlines
- Exceptional capability to multi-task and prioritize with excellent organization and documentation skills in a fast-paced work environment
- High level attention to detail with ability to utilize decision making and problem-solving skills
- Capable of working collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision
- Exhibit discretion with sensitive and confidential information
