Position Overview: The Director of Human Resources is responsible for providing strategic leadership in human resources management and talent acquisition within the context of government contracting. This role involves overseeing the Human Resources staff, development and implementation of HR policies, managing recruitment processes, ensuring compliance with government regulations, and fostering a positive workplace culture.
Responsibilities
- Strategic HR Leadership:
- Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with the organization's goals and government contracting requirements.
- Provide guidance to senior management on HR-related issues and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the company.
- Talent Acquisition:
- Oversee the full recruitment life cycle, including workforce planning, sourcing, interviewing, and selection.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and ensure timely and effective recruitment processes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external recruiting agencies, colleges, and other talent sources.
- Compliance and Policy Development:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations, as well as specific requirements related to government contracts.
- Develop and update HR policies and procedures to align with regulatory changes and industry best practices.
- Employee Relations:
- Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Address employee relations issues promptly and effectively, promoting open communication and conflict resolution.
- Performance Management:
- Implement and manage performance appraisal systems, providing guidance to managers on performance feedback and improvement plans.
- Management of the company’s HR staff
- Training and Development:
- Collaborate with department heads to identify training needs and develop programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
- Benefits Administration:
- Oversee the administration of employee benefit programs, ensuring compliance with government regulations.
Required qualifications, skills, and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- SHRM or HRCI certification is highly desirable.
- 10 years of experience in Human Resources within the Federal Marketplace
- Proven experience in HR leadership roles, particularly in government contracting environments.
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Strong understanding of government contracting compliance requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement HR strategies that align with organizational objectives.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
