FIU BSA Analyst 1

Job Summary

The FIU BSA Analyst 1 assists in the execution of the Bank’s Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance Program. The FIU BSA Analyst 1 assists the Bank in detecting unusual or suspicious activity in a timely manner in an effort to safeguard the integrity of the Bank and ensure the Bank’s compliance with BSA/AML and OFAC regulations. This position will conduct FIU alert reviews by analyzing transactions and identifying potentially suspicious activity. This position is also responsible for assisting other BSA Teams, participating in projects and other assignments in an effort to prevent the Bank from exploitation by money laundering or terrorist financing activities. The FIU BSA Analyst 1 is to follow department procedures and comply with the FFIEC BSA/AML Examination Manual.

Essential Duties

• Review and analyze AML Alerts generated from a transaction monitoring system utilized to identify potential suspicious activity.
• Review and investigate QARs submitted by Bank employees in a timely manner.
• Ability to gather and assess information to make a sound decision.
• Report writing to describe the analysis of the review.
• Ability to effectively manage a workbench with a high volume of alerts due within a 30-day time period.
• Maintain daily and monthly production goals as required by management.
• Perform research, including negative news searches, through the Bank’s systems, online public databases, and subscription-based database resources.
• Effectively communicate and assist Bank and branch staff on any BSA related questions or issues.
• Proficient knowledge of BSA/AML software in order to adequately detect, review and report suspicious activity.
• Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned or requested. Additionally, may be tasked with assisting other teams within the BSA Department, such as OFAC, CTR or EDD teams.

Complies with all State and Federal Banking regulatory requirements, including but not limited to: BSA, Anti-Money Laundering OFAC, CIP, Financial Elder Abuse Reporting, Sexual Harassment, Information Security, and privacy requirements. This position will elevate suspicious activity to supervisory staff and/or BSA department. Completes compliance and other technical training workshops as assigned.

Non-Essential Duties

• Maintain adequate filing and tracking system for BSA documents.
• Attend seminars to enhance knowledge of BSA/AML and OFAC regulations/requirements.

Officer Title Eligibility 

For qualified positions, the Bank may designate Officer Titles to employees who meet defined competencies for an eligible position. This position is not eligible for an Officer Title.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Requires standing and/or sitting for prolong periods of time.
• Requires lifting up 10 lbs.
• Office setting w/controlled temperature

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 – 5 years of banking experience with an emphasis on customer service.
• 1 – 3 years of banking experience with BSA/AML/OFAC.
• CAMS Certification preferred but not required.
