Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a tech-savvy and detail-oriented PC Support Technician, at our Lakeland, FL manufacturing plant.  This position is responsible for utilizing technical expertise to perform day-to-day administrative tasks, including account creation, end-user support, maintaining network services infrastructure, and identifying and resolving technical problems in a timely manner, minimizing production disruptions.

The successful candidate will be expected to communicate and coordinate with Carpenter Employees of all levels to safely and efficiently support daily production demands. 

Responsibilities of the PC Support Technician include, but are not limited to:

  • Communicate with company management and employees of all levels to establish and maintain the Plant and Remote computer and user technical infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support to end users to resolve hardware and software issues promptly and effectively.
  • Maintain local IT servers, network (L2, L3 and Wireless) and application environment together in line with Corp IT and our hard & software vendors.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, etc.
  • Use Microsoft and other third party provided tools to support and maintain Plant desktops, laptops, print devices to ensure optimal software and hardware performance, reliability, troubleshooting, and data security.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions and access control.
  • Ensure smooth onboarding for new team members as it relates to IT equipment and systems access.
  • Manage purchasing of computer equipment and software as necessary.
  • Support onsite implementation of company-wide digital initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate software policies. 

 

Skills/ Requirements

  • Associates Degree (AS) in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of work experience supporting computer networks, systems and infrastructure.
  • In depth knowledge and experience working with current versions of Microsoft desktop operating systems.
  • Basic knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Experience troubleshooting computer hardware problems and performing minor computer hardware repairs.
  • Experience in Switching, Routing, Firewalling, Monitoring, TCP/IP, DNS, DHC, VPN and wireless technologies.
  • Data Center Experience: Basic rack and server management including cabling, monitoring, and physical hardware installation.
  • Additional experience supporting the following is preferred: ITSM, Confluence, ERP, Cisco Networking, M365 services such as Exchange/SharePoint online, Teams etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Customer service minded with a “can do” attitude and a sense of urgency.
