TEGNA-owned KPNX/12News the NBC affiliate in Phoenix is seeking a dynamic, charismatic Lifestyle Host to lead the charge on our top-rated daily lifestyle program, Arizona Midday. This is an exciting opportunity to work in one of the country’s most vibrant media markets, showcasing the best of Arizona’s people, businesses, nonprofits, and lifestyle topics on a show that airs live and streams daily.
You’ll collaborate with a talented team to deliver a blend of sponsored and editorial content that’s engaging, community-minded across broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Independently host a one-hour daily lifestyle program that blends entertainment, wellness, community features, and sponsored content
- Conduct live and taped interviews with guests, maintaining a natural, engaging, and authentic tone
- Collaborate with producers, clients, and account executives to craft elevated branded segments
- Write segment copy with a voice that is fun, informative, and accessible
- Help book and prep guests, contribute story ideas, and participate in pre- and post-show planning meetings
- Create digital-first content for the show's social platforms and assist in growing audience engagement
- Represent Arizona Midday at public events and client campaigns as a brand ambassador for the station
- Emcee station and community events as needed
- Daily Expectations
- Be an active and prepared contributor to daily pre-show and editorial meetings
- Deliver clean, conversational reads of segment scripts (or improvise as needed)
- Maintain positive, productive working relationships with internal teams and external partners
- Adapt quickly to unscripted moments and breaking opportunities, especially in a live environment
- Assist with digital extensions of the show including reels, behind-the-scenes stories, and YouTube content
Requirements:
- 5+ years of hosting, reporting, or public-facing storytelling experience (TV, digital, or branded content preferred)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience with script and advertorial writing
- Ability to cold read, ad-lib, and adapt on-air in live or unscripted situations
- Natural curiosity, confidence, and energy — on camera and off
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with clients and community organizations
- Understanding of visual production, studio protocol, and digital media workflows
- Valid driver's license and flexibility to attend off-site shoots or events
- Strong working knowledge of social media best practices and audience engagement
Bonus Skills
- Experience with sponsored content or branded integrations
- Local market knowledge and community involvement
- Familiarity with newsroom or live production environments
- Video editing or creative production skills a plus
