Job Description

The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an immediate opening for an Assistant Supervisor in the Discovery Compliance Bureau’s Law Enforcement Disclosure Unit. This unit is responsible for acquiring, maintaining, and disclosing material that may impact the credibility of law enforcement witnesses in criminal prosecutions.The Assistant Supervisor will assist the LED Manager by providing strategic and operational leadership to the Law Enforcement Disclosure Unit, including direct management of analysts and oversight of staff. This role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing of disclosure requests, monitoring workload distribution, and overseeing emergency and expedited matters. The Assistant Supervisor will also be responsible for processing disclosure requests and interacting directly with ADAs. In addition to day-to-day oversight, the Assistant Supervisor will help guide policy development, implement best practices to improve efficiency and compliance, and lead training initiatives. The Assistant Supervisor will also ensure alignment with legal standards and office priorities, manage escalations, and provide high-level analysis and decision-making for the unit.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Assist with providing strategic leadership and oversight for the Law Enforcement Disclosure Unit, ensuring all operations align with the Office’s disclosure obligations and legal standards.
- Supervise and support LED Unit staff in processing law enforcement impeachment material, ensuring timely, accurate, and legally compliant disclosures to Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs).
- Oversee and allocate incoming workload, including high priority, expedited, and emergency disclosure requests; ensure that resource distribution supports efficiency and urgent needs.
- Ensure emails entering the LED Group inbox are handled and/or responded to in a timely manner.
- Serve as a liaison between the LED Unit and internal stakeholders (e.g., ADAs, Discovery Compliance Bureau leadership) as well as external agencies (e.g., NYPD, law enforcement partners), particularly in complex or sensitive matters.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and improvement of policies and procedures to reduce risk and improve workflow consistency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Oversee the onboarding, training, and ongoing development of unit staff to ensure all personnel are equipped to handle evolving responsibilities, systems, and protocols.
- Provide high-level review and quality control of outgoing legal disclosures and communications to ensure professional standards and accuracy.
- Perform other supervisory duties and special projects as assigned.
- Provide backup support for LED staff during absences and assist with overall management coverage for the bureau as needed.


In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements, candidates must possess the following:

- Bachelor's degree required and;
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience in prosecutorial discovery, criminal justice, e-Discovery, or related legal support functions.
Preferred Requirements/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in criminal justice, public administration, law, or a related field.
- Experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proven ability to mentor and train staff, promote collaboration, and maintain accountability.
- Experience with managing teams, workloads, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume, detail-sensitive environment.
- Strong knowledge of New York City and State court systems, prosecutorial processes, and related discovery obligations (e.g., Brady, Giglio). Familiarity with New York City and State court and office environments preferred.
- Experience handling law enforcement or public integrity records, including body-worn camera footage and other electronic evidence, is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with legal research tools or investigative databases such as LexisNexis and CLEAR.
- Effective independent worker and dependable team player, adaptable to frequent workflow changes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex legal matters and draft professional correspondence.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain institutional relationships with prosecutors, law enforcement agencies, and oversight bodies.
- Strong discretion and confidentiality in managing sensitive legal and personnel records.
- Multilingual abilities a plus.

- Current office employees: To be eligible for a transfer or promotion, staff must have already served at least two (2) years in their current unit/bureau/department and be in good standing. In addition, must meet the minimum and additional qualifications of the position.
