Job Summary:
The Manager of Raw Materials Sourcing plays a strategic leadership role in developing and executing sourcing strategies that elevate supplier capabilities, drive speed to market, improve cost efficiency, and support Alo Yoga’s brand values, including sustainability and innovation. This position is responsible for managing a robust global supplier matrix, leading complex negotiations, and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure fabric availability aligns with design, development, and production timelines. The role requires deep expertise in textile manufacturing, market intelligence, and performance fabric sourcing, as well as a proactive mindset to identify and mitigate material risks.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Raw Material Sourcing Strategy
- Develop and manage sourcing strategies that support business goals, sustainability objectives, and seasonal needs.
- Own and optimize the raw material supplier matrix to balance flexibility, lead time, quality, and cost.
- Drive initiatives that elevate supplier performance and enable product innovation.
- Execute Supplier Engagement & Negotiation
- Partner with global suppliers to conduct cost negotiations and capacity planning aligned with forecasted demand.
- Manage seasonal negotiation templates and issue supplier award communications.
- Provide supplier forecasts, initiate commitments, and ensure clear communication for bulk execution and flexibility needs (e.g., chase, cancel, shift-outs).
- Analyze Data & Manage Sourcing Metrics
- Analyze cost components and global market trends to support fact-based negotiation strategies.
- Build and maintain sourcing dashboards and KPIs, including financial fabric commitments and quarterly staged usage reports.
- Monitor capacity actualization vs. projections and provide insights to leadership and finance.
- Fabric Production & Program Execution
- Track WIP (work-in-progress) status with suppliers to ensure timely material deliveries.
- Manage seasonal raw material staging bookings and monitor fabric readiness for bulk production timelines.
- Partner with suppliers to reconcile fabric usage and resolve any liabilities.
- Quality, Compliance & Performance Testing
- Ensure all raw materials meet Alo’s performance testing requirements before issuing commitment awards.
- Conduct fabric supplier onboarding, technical capability reviews, and quarterly health checks.
- Drive continuous improvement through the fabric supplier scorecard and performance feedback.
- Cross-Functional Partnership & Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Creation, Development, Buying, and Finance to align on material strategies.
- Support the Sr. Director in long-range planning and annual supplier strategy development.
- Maintain a centralized bulk fabric library to support Development and Production teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Textiles, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
- 6–8+ years of experience in international sourcing or raw material production.
- Expert technical knowledge of yarn spinning, weaving/knitting, dyeing, printing, finishing, and both synthetic and natural fiber textiles.
- Understanding of garment production, dry/wet processing, and cut-and-sew operations.
- Proficient in Excel and financial modeling; able to synthesize large datasets for strategic insights.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing global supplier relationships.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
- Experience with sustainability initiatives and supply chain traceability road mapping is preferred.
The base salary for this position is $130,000-$150,000 per year which represents the base salary for this exempt position. Please note that actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. As such, on occasion and when applicable, there is the possibility that the final, agreed-upon base salary may be outside of the upper end of the range. Please also note the range listed is just one component of the company’s total rewards package for exempt employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives, a PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
