WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

The Driver Lead works with our warehouse team and oversees the receipt, storage, order preparation, and delivery of material.  Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Promoting a safe work environment for all employee owners
  • Modeling Lumbermen’s core values
  • First responder to all Cottage Grove delivery drivers
  • Coach drivers on procedures set forth by transportation as well as branch management
  • Investigating and reporting truck breakdowns
  • Investigating delivery routes and driver time to uphold compliance with DOT regulations
  • Leading and making improvements to housekeeping regarding Trucks and Trailers
  • Ensure employees are using critical systems such as Geotab each day
  • Ensure truck checks are being done pre and post trip and schedule maintenance when needed.
  • Training, motivating, and coaching employee owners for success
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of warehouse operations
  • Approaching work each day with a positive attitude
  • Treating Employee Owners in a professional manner
  • Train and coach, all employees who drive Lumbermen’s vehicle on professional appearance and presentation to customers. The drivers are the face of the company every day
  • Assisting with other tasks and responsibilities as needed to support the operation
  • Work with Branch leadership and repair facilities on plans and execution of lean operations in transportation
  • Maintain a strong team culture with respect and customer service at the core
  • Additional Duties may be assigned as role progresses

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma/GED required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1-3 years’ CDL Class A License and experience
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • CDL Class A license with a clean driving record

  • Able to lead by example and lead others to success
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Effectiveness in providing clarity to team in achieving company goals and objectives
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Able to drive a forklift
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. repetitively/continuously
