We’re seeking a strategic and hands-on HR Leader to oversee human resources at Remitly’s Nicaragua site. As the most senior HR presence onsite, this role serves as a key partner to the Site Director—ensuring the seamless execution of global HR strategies while addressing local needs.  This leader will act as the primary HR Business Partner to site and corporate leadership, advising on organizational design, employee relations, performance management, compensation & benefits, and attrition management. They will play a critical role in driving engagement, fostering culture, ensuring compliance, and enabling the growth and retention of high-performing teams.  As a Head of HR you will help build and implement new strategic HR programs including, but not limited to:

  • Translate business priorities into HR strategies that drive performance and retention.

  • Partner with Site Director and global/local leaders to align team structures and talent plans with company goals.

  • Serve as a thought leader and advocate for the site in global people conversations.

  • Lead performance management cycles, talent reviews, and succession planning.

  • Coach managers and team leads to build high-performing, inclusive teams.

  • Champion internal mobility, manager capability, and development journeys.

  • Foster a workplace culture that reflects Remitly’s values and celebrates local identity.

  • Co-lead with Business Leaders on engagement initiatives, Inclusion programs, and team events that support belonging and connection.

  • Monitor and analyze local attrition and retention trends, identify root causes, and partner with leaders to develop data-informed action plans that reduce turnover and support long-term retention.

  • Serve as the site’s cultural ambassador and advocate for a values-driven employee experience.

  • Ensure adherence to local labor laws, Free Zone rules, and internal compliance policies.

  • Lead site audits, inspections, and reviews with accuracy and accountability.

  • Partner with Center of Excellence to oversee employee data management, payroll, benefits, and process documentation with a focus on precision and consistency and local alignment to existing regulations & practices..

  • Leverage HR data to track KPIs including attrition, cost-per-hire, engagement, and performance outcomes.

  • Provide actionable insights on local employee turnover, risk areas, and workforce sentiment, and partner with leadership to proactively address trends.

  • Build business cases and recommend solutions to improve organizational health.

  • Lead site-wide HR roadmaps and change initiatives during periods of scale and transition.

  • Support organizational design efforts and structure reviews with global alignment.

  • Promote agility and forward-thinking solutions while fostering stability through change.

Who you are:

  • A bachelor's degree in Business, HR, or Psychology

  • 5+ years in a senior HR leadership role, preferably in a call center, BPO, or financial services environment

  • Deep knowledge of Nicaraguan labor law, government compliance requirements, and Free Zone regime regulations.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in both English and Spanish.

  • Ability to navigate a matrixed, global organization, acting as a cultural translator and strategic connector.

  • Thriving in an ambiguous environment and be incredibly proactive

  • A self-starter, resourceful, creative and capable of handling multiple projects at a time

  • With can-do, collaborative working style and attention to detail

  • With excellent English verbal and written communication skills
