Who you’ll work with
Reporting to a Principal, the investment intern will work closely with our highly-specialized private equity team that invests in global infrastructure and natural resources companies to deliver growing, inflation-linked cash flows over a long-term investment horizon. Our team consists of 80 investment professionals with strong academic backgrounds (CA, CFA, MBA, CBV, PEng) and solid practical experience.
We handle a geographically-diverse C$53 billion global investment portfolio and have offices in Toronto, London, Singapore, and Mumbai! Our investments are primarily through direct, privately-held, controlling or co-controlling stakes, rather than through funds or passive holdings.
What you’ll do
The investment intern in this role will be involved in assisting the team in analyzing potential new investment opportunities, managing our existing investments and partake in the following initiatives:
- Hone your financial modelling abilities by analyzing investment opportunities
- Learn to identify key value drivers and risks for investments and perform related sensitivity and scenario analyses
- Support due diligence exercises
- Prepare valuations, presentations, and reports to senior investment professionals
- Develop and analyze business cases for portfolio company value creation initiatives (debt refinancings, expansion projects, management compensation, on-going budgeting, etc.);
What you’ll need
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree with a concentration in investments, finance, or accounting
- Previous intern experience in M&A, investment banking, private equity, consulting, or equity research, with specific infrastructure or natural resources experience required
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) required
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills and ability to perform in-depth analysis
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and initiatives while remaining detail-oriented
- Must be enrolled in 3rd / 4th year or related Masters’ program
- You must be enrolled in a co-op program or returning back to your studies after the work term is completed
