Join our Immigration Team as an Immigration Practice Group Manager located in our New Jersey Office.

This role will be based in our Florham Park, New Jersey office, on a hybrid basis.  Regular in-office presence is required for day-to-day operations, as well as for team meetings, training opportunities, and relationship building. This role reports to the Office Administrator.

Position Summary

The Immigration Practice Group Manager position will oversee and manage client portfolios, while providing organizational and practice specific support to attorneys in our highly specialized Business Immigration Department. Will oversee and assist the client team in a wide range of business immigration matters including preparing various immigration forms and applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages day-to-day activity for large client portfolios, including managing the support team assigned to the client

  • Cultivate client relationships, effectively communicates with clients regarding procedural and case processing issues, identifies client immigration solutions and understands current client activity

  • Manages issue escalations and work to resolve same

  • Collaborates with the shareholders and senior attorneys to manage legal team’s work and ensures deadlines are met

  • Leads the client team by providing training, new hire orientation, guidance and performance reviews for the team

  • Collaborates hiring and training of new client team members

  • Identifies employees who may require additional training and oversight and works with them to achieve performance expectations

  • Provides performance feedback ongoing and during annual performance evaluation program

  • Maintains oversight of individual caseloads as well as that of paralegal caseloads to ensure timely completion of work

  • Mentors junior associates, paralegals, and administrative assistants on the client team, particularly in process management and client specific procedures and requirements

  • Manages various administrative duties; maintains case management database, directs client contact-- phone calls, emails, and postal correspondence

  • Files and monitors applications and petitions with appropriate government agencies

  • Initiates contact with government officials to obtain necessary information to alert supervising attorney and legal team of potential delays or possible problems in the processing of an application

  • Researches law, procedures and keeps track of immigration law updates

  • Creates and maintains reports as needed

  • Assists in client intakes, prepares client mailings and submissions to various immigration offices

  • Collaborates with senior attorneys to manage and support large scale projects, including writing or deploying communications, executing case filing strategies with clients, providing clients with program progress

  • Assists with other department activities as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to communicate professionally and interact effectively with clients and all levels of personnel including management staff and support staff

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor and presentation

  • Ability to be a proactive self-starter who understands the details within a much larger context

  • High attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively

  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work on multiple matters simultaneously in an organized manner and under minimal supervision

  • Flexibility and able to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands

  • Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines

Education & Prior Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and Paralegal certification required

  • Ten years of experience in preparing immigrant and nonimmigrant visas

  • International Business Immigration experience within a law firm or professional services firm with demonstrated knowledge of complex issues within the Business Immigration practice area

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience managing and reviewing work of junior and mid-level paralegals

Technology

  • Proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required

  • Exceptional computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications quickly

The expected pay range for this position is:

$136,600 to $158,200 per year

Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401K, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program.  Additional voluntary programs include:  voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary long term care, voluntary critical illness and cancer insurance and pet insurance.  Commuter and Transit programs may also be available in certain markets.
