About the Role
The Senior Occupational Therapist  is responsible for the provision of high quality, specialist occupational therapy services to adult consumers and carers in the Acute Inpatient Service.  Providing clinical and professional leadership to junior staff, students and peers within a multidisciplinary, integrated team framework providing a recovery-focused Strengths Model of care. 

Key Position Duties

  • To work collaborate with discipline senior Occupational Therapists across St Vincent’s Mental Health with regard to coordinating occupational therapy service provision. 

  • Demonstrate a flexible approach to the resolution of complex situations that may involve negotiation with multiple service providers. 

  • Provide leadership to the the ward group program and the staff who implement this program.   



Your Contribution
Bachelor Degree in Occupational Therapy 
Extensive experience in the provision of occupational therapy assessment and intervention for consumers with a serious mental illness and complex needs and their carers.  Highly developed interpersonal and oral/written communication skills and demonstrated ability to effectively consult, prioritise and liaise with consumers, carers, family members, community agencies and other professionals. 
• Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain/ Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willing to obtain (Select which is applicable)

St. Vincent’s Mental Health (SVMH) includes an adult area mental health service for the inner city areas of Yarra and Boroondara.  The adult mental health service components are: The Footbridge Community Care Unit (CCU), the 44 bed Acute Inpatient Service (AIS) located on the St. Vincent’s Hospital site, the North Fitzroy PARC and two community mental health services (CMHS) at Hawthorn and East Melbourne (Clarendon CMHS)
