We are seeking a talented individual to join our Private Equity Co-Investment team at Mercer. This role can be based in Richmond or Atlanta and offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.
As a Private Equity Co-investment Associate, you will be part of Mercer Investments’ expanding Alternatives team, supporting institutional investors across private equity, real estate, and infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to engage in investment sourcing, due diligence, and performance monitoring for a diverse global client base. Mercer’s experienced team collaborates across North America, Europe, and Asia, providing a dynamic environment to develop expertise in alternative asset classes. We will count on you to:
- Support the senior members of the Co-investments team in the execution of transactions
- Prepare quantitative and qualitative analysis in support of the firm’s due diligence on private equity co-investment opportunities
- Coordinate with private equity firms and relevant advisors to support the due diligence process for relevant transactions
- Assist the co-investment team in the preparation of investment committee memorandums
- Monitor and report on investment/portfolio performance, including valuation of investments (when required)
- Meet with and evaluate existing and new private equity managers to facilitate co-investment deal flow
- Maintain deal flow pipeline utilizing internal firm databases
- Assist senior team members in developing opinions on private equity fund managers and markets through ongoing qualitative and quantitative research
- Participate in macro research and the preparation of industry articles
- Support the team on the implementation of best practices and assist with special projects (business development, client-specific projects, etc.) on an as-needed basis
What you need to have:
- BS or BA in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or similar discipline
- 0-4 years of related experience, preferably in investment banking, private equity, investment management, or finance-oriented consulting firm
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel; ability to quickly learn and adapt to or have practical experience working with large enterprise class
- Understands the notion of “global responsibility” and exhibits a strong interest in stepping outside of one’s daily tasks to help facilitate others’ growth and success
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to clearly and confidently articulate complex issues while demonstrating financial knowledge with clients, investment managers, and team members
- Ability to work with limited supervision and demonstrates professionalism, efficiency, and a desire for growth, with the ability to multi-task, solve problems independently, and adapt to changing priorities; self-sufficient, highly responsible, and adaptable, with strong initiative and a proactive approach
