POSITION SUMMARY: 
The Y is a cause-driven organization that is for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position requires an enthusiastic individual with skills in the areas of sports management, communication and supervision. Candidate must be able to lead a high-performing team of part time staff, volunteers, contract officials and organizational partnerships focused on growing the impact of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility by developing high quality, excellent experiences in youth programming that aids in strengthening the foundations of our community.  This position will actively participate as a member of a dynamic, high performing, cause-driven Youth Sports leadership team, exhibiting the characteristics of a welcoming, nurturing, genuine, hopeful and determined leader by developing a passionate commitment to all members within our community.
                

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Assistant Youth Sports Director reports directly to the Regional Youth Sports Directors and takes responsibility for the following:
  • Designated site supervision
  • Inventory and organization of equipment, uniforms, and site resources
  • Supervise and lead up to an 8 person part- time staff team at assigned site
  • Assist in league set-up; rosters, schedules, uniform orders, etc…
  • Training and coaching officials for each sport at assigned site
  • Responsible for scheduling and/or covering all work shifts at assigned site
  • Assist in staff management and communication                    
  • Assist in coach and volunteer support
  • Field or site set up, including weekly upkeep of field striping, field maintenance, etc…
  • Ensuring that the assigned site has safety as the top priority for participants and staff

  • Curriculum in both the programs and volunteer trainings is continuously evaluated and improved.
  • Satisfaction survey results are continuously evaluated and improved while remaining a leader in our association.
     

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Team player with personal commitment to YMCA Mission, Philosophy & Character Development Values.
  • Experience working with youth ages 3-14. 
  • Personable, outgoing, and service oriented.
  • Ability to resolve issues or conflict in a mature and effective manner.
  • Ability to speak with parents, children and participants.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, accurate, and proficient.
     

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong personal character and values
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Technologically proficient, with the ability to use technology to advance the mission
  • HS Diploma or equivalency
  • College degree preferred.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated
  • Detail oriented
  • Supervisor/Management experience is a plus
