The Application Specialist plays a pivotal role in providing device application education to healthcare professionals and key stakeholders, ensuring the safe and effective adoption of advanced therapeutic solutions and medical devices. This field-based role requires a deep background in respiratory care, critical care cardiovascular surgery and training delivery. The Application Specialist serves as a resource in guiding optimal practices related to these treatment offerings, supporting the safe and effective utilization of medical devices and medicine. The position stays informed on emerging treatments and competing therapies or products.

Job Description

Essential Functions

  • Maintain advanced device application expertise in specialized therapeutic gases and associated delivery systems.
  • Conduct in-service training for healthcare professionals on the use and interface of various respiratory delivery systems.
  • Provide support related to device application by addressing inquiries from medical staff, visiting client sites to resolve issues, and responding to escalated questions from commercial teams.
  • Deliver internal device application education to cross-functional teams, including sales and other relevant departments.
  • Localize global documentation into user-friendly operational materials tailored for Japan market.
  • Serve as a trusted device application advisor to institutional clients and their healthcare stakeholders.
  • Act as a liaison between sales/marketing teams, distribution partners, and global functions such as clinical, product management, and quality assurance.
  • Document activities and interactions in designated systems, manage expense submissions, and achieve defined performance metrics.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Registered Clinical Engineer preferred

Experience:

  • Clinical experience in Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or Operating Room
  • Strong current familiarity with respiratory care therapies.

  • Proven track record of success in establishing relationships with healthcare professionals and in team management
  • Ability to learn about products and competitive products quickly and comprehensively and effectively communicate that information
  • Creative problem-solver with strong business skills/acumen
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Possess an understanding of the pharmaceutical, medical device, and healthcare industries

Organizational Relationship/Scope:

  • This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports, requiring strong self-management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Reports to the Director, Marketing Japan within Marketing team under Japan Commercial organization.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with Sales, Regulatory Affairs, and Global Clinical teams to support strategic initiatives.
  • Serves as a clinical liaison between institutional customers, internal stakeholders, and external partners to ensure alignment in product application and education.
  • May represent the organization at professional conferences, workshops, and training events to promote clinical excellence and product understanding.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a field-based role requiring frequent travel to hospitals, clinics, and customer sites (up to 70%).
  • Work may involve irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends, depending on customer needs and training schedules.
  • Requires prolonged periods of standing, presenting, and interacting in clinical environments such as ICUs and operating rooms.
  • Must comply with all institutional safety protocols and infection control standards when operating in healthcare settings.
  • Remote administrative work is expected, including documentation, reporting, and virtual collaboration with internal teams.
