Dixie Chopper (a member of Alamo Group Inc.) is currently accepting applications to fill the temp-to-hire position of Materials Handler I.
Position Summary:
Under direct supervision, performs duties to receive, retrieve, transfer and store parts and materials for manufacturing operations: reads production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed. Maintains accurate inventory. May be assigned to a particular work center or various work centers.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Follows all company and departmental safety rules including proper use of personal protective equipment
- Maintains housekeeping in assigned areas
- Fills requisitions, work orders, requests for materials, sales orders, tools or other stock items and deliver items to production areas
- Assembles orders from stock and places on pallets or in baskets, moves orders to packing station, shipping department or trailers
- Places received material and excess inventory in storage locations
- Marks materials with identifying information
- Accurately records locations and amounts of materials or items received, transferred or distributed
- Moves materials as required using lift truck or other means
- Uses computer and hand held scanner to access information, record transactions and verify data
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):
- Must be certified to operate required material handling equipment
- Must be able to learn how to read blueprints and use measuring instruments
- Should have general knowledge of RhinoAg products and parts
- Basic math skills and computer data entry skills essential
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED certificate preferred or work experience in a related occupation
- Six months of experience in material handling preferred
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work overtime, including weekends
- Must be physically capable of standing / walking / working 8+ hour shift(s)
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs
- Must be able to lift, carry and/or move up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
- Must be able to work in non-climate controlled areas
Must be able to wear required safety equipment.
