Role Purpose
Everest Insurance is expanding its Property portfolio across Australia and the Pacific region. Based in Melbourne, this role offers an exciting opportunity to shape our growth strategy, drive underwriting excellence and build strong relationships with brokers and clients. As a senior member of the team, you will contribute to profitability, growth, service excellence, and producer relations, specifically focusing on the Melbourne placement market and also across Australia and the Pacific region.

Key Accountabilities
Your main responsibility will be to act as a senior technical underwriter, bringing your extensive expertise in Property products to assess risks and make informed decisions that align with our strategic goals. Your ability to analyse complex underwriting data, identify potential opportunities, and mitigate risks will be instrumental in our continued success and expansion.
Expanding the Property account in line with overall business appetites, controls, underwriting strategy, and guidelines, always maintaining a focus on bottom line underwriting profit.
Building strong and lasting relationships with major customers and brokers is critical aspect of this role. Your excellent interpersonal and communication skills will help you foster trust, understand their needs, and deliver tailored solutions that exceed expectations.
Underwrite and price Property risks, in various forms of Primary, Excess of Loss and Quota Share, and determine the acceptability of these complex risks both in terms of catastrophe, risk and compliance exposures.
Bind various coverages subject to authority level and promptly respond to inquiries from all producers and internal colleagues alike
Prepare quotations and formal proposals on new and renewal business.
Ensure that documentation is completed timely and accurately according to EGM or Company standards.
Assist with the development and evolution of divisional pricing, accumulation, Catastrophe Management assessments and other line related requirements as necessary and to support Country and Line management.

Assist Head of Property in addressing and resolving overdues, workflow and various clerical issues within EGM or Company stamp business as necessary.
Effectively communicate with management on all issues both within and outside the Unit as needed and interact and coordinate activities with other departments (e.g. Claims, Loss Control, and Accounting).
Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and / or carry out responsibilities and / or administrative activities at EGM/Company stamp.
Purchase acceptable Facultative Reinsurance where applicable and in line with management requirements to manage and smooth account volatility where appropriate.
Ensure Everest core value commitments are understood and upheld.

Essential Skills:
Demonstrated effective communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to be capable of dealing with all levels of Everest personnel as well as in dealing with agents, brokers and clients
Full understanding of the Insurance Industry and how Client/Broker/Insurer relationships operate
Proven analytical skills necessary to judge the desirability of complex or unusual risks within assigned specialised line
Proven record in insurance sales
Must have leadership and organisational skills through past management experience
The ability to be able to respond appropriately to all levels of Clients/Brokers and Everest personnel
Accuracy and attention to detail
Demonstrated skill in PC software, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Microsoft Outlook and new software as it applies to the position
Experience:
Previous Insurance experience essential – minimum 10 years. Preferably Property and Commercial lines experience.
Experience in Energy would be a plus.
Relevant on-the-job experience
Qualifications:
Working towards or obtained ANZIIF qualifications
Tertiary qualification (Business or Statistics) desirable, but not essential
