PURPOSE:
Nucor Reber Fabrication is looking for a Payroll Administrator for an 18-month contract to join the Payroll/HR team. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Administrator ensures the timely processing of employee payrolls. Additionally, this position performs various analyses, reviews, reconciliations, and completion of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting activities. The Payroll Administrator works with many internal and external stakeholders to ensure the reliability and dependability of all transactions while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Processing Canadian payrolls on a weekly basis
• Review and verify payroll data for accuracy
• Set up and remittance of support orders/garnishments on a weekly basis
• Review and remit monthly union dues
• Prepare payroll-related filings and supporting documentation
• Preparation and review of quarterly payroll reconciliations
• Review payroll data to identify issues and opportunities for improvement
• Responding to inquiries, filing and faxes
• This job requires the person to work autonomously and take full responsibility for the assigned payrolls and issues that may arise, and all functions relating to the employees on the payrolls.
• Additional duties as required by management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• Completion of payroll program or equivalent
• Minimum 1-year previous payroll experience is an asset
• Accurate data entry
• Capable of meeting deadlines and prioritizing workload
• Above-average knowledge of Excel and Word
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong accounting knowledge
• People-oriented – enjoy dealing with people daily and assisting in solving their problems
• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
• Team Player
• Confidentiality is a must.
• Preference will be given to candidates with Dayforce experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Typical office activities
• Walking, sitting, standing, bending
• Using hands to operate objects, tools, computers and other electronic equipment
• Lifting/handling computers and related equipment
• Vision abilities, including close vision and adjusting focus
• Moderate noise level
