Job Summary
The Tech Lead will serve as a hands-on expert responsible for overseeing the design, development, and deployment of ETL pipelines, SOL-based data solutions, and integration services. In addition to deep technical involvement, this position will provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of onshore and offshore developers, guiding them on best practices, architecture standards, and effective problem-solving strategies.
Reporting to the Data Services Manager, the Tech Lead will play a key role in fostering collaboration, ensuring code quality, removing delivery obstacles, and enhancing the team's capacity to deliver critical solutions in a timely and efficient manner. This is an opportunity to shape data engineering efforts and influence the technological direction of our data ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
1. Act as a liaison between technical staff and stakeholders, translating business requirements into efficient, scalable solutions.
2. Build and maintain robust, scalable SSIS packages incorporating third-party plugins, transformations, slowly changing dimensions, and advanced logic.
3. Collaborate with project sponsors, OBA, testing, DevOps, business analysts, and senior leadership to ensure robust testing, Cl/CD automation, and smooth production deployments using Git and Azure pipelines.
4. Define and enforce best practices in data engineering, ETL design, and code versioning.
5. Design and implement complex workflows, expressions, queries, and data validations, ensuring appropriate error handling and system alerting.
6. Design and optimize relational database objects (tables, stored procedures, views, indexes, functions) using T-SQL.
7. Develop and manage end-to-end integrations using SSIS, Azure Data Factory, REST APls, SFTP, JSON, and flat file exchanges.
8. Drive process improvements, automation opportunities, and system performance optimizations.
9. Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security across all stages of the integration lifecycle.
10. Integrate with internal and external APls for data exchange, including authentication, error handling, and transformation logic.
11. Lead a team of onshore and offshore developers, providing technical guidance, peer reviews, and mentoring to ensure quality and performance standards are met.
12. Lead the documentation of processes, configurations, and technical workflows to support knowledge sharing and team scaling.
13. Monitor and resolve integration failures with root cause analysis and timely remediation.
14. Participate in solution architecture planning and lead implementation strategies for complex integrations.
15. Provide timely escalation and resolution of development and production issues.
Minimum Job Requirements
1. 7+ years of progressive experience in SQL development and ETL, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role.
2. Bachelor's degree in a related field or 10+ years of equivalent professional experience.
3. Background in Agile/Scrum methodology and DevOps principles preferred.
4. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
5. Experience with Azure Synapse, Azure SOL, or related cloud-based data platforms preferred.
6. Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and branching strategies for team collaboration preferred.
7. Highly self-motivated with exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
8. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and modern collaboration tools.
9. Proven experience leading cross-functional, geographically distributed teams.
10. Solid understanding of data integration best practices, SDLC methodologies, and Cl/CD workflows.
11. Strong expertise in T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, Azure Data Factory, REST APls, and JSON.
