POSITION SUMMARY
The project specialist works closely with the Supply Chain Director to establish consensus on capital and special project objectives at Mount Nittany Medical Center (MNMC) and Off-site locations. Achieves these objectives by establishing, managing and leading the project team, leadership, user groups, contractors and members of Supply Chain. Integrates or coordinates the project management process throughout each of it phases (preparatory, initial and follow-up).
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor degree in business, healthcare management or related program is required.
Experience:
- Five years of Supply Chain/Logistics experience in healthcare.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, Department of Health, and FDA requirements is preferred.
- Ability to understand, read and interpret floor plans and construction changes is preferred.
License/Certification/Registration:
- AHRMM (American Healthcare and Resource Management certification is a plus.
- Current and valid driver’s license required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Receives supervision from Director, Supply Chain. Receives instruction from Supply Chain Manager of Operations and Procurement. Works closely with BioMedical Manager.
SUPERVISION GIVEN
Supervises the activities of the Supply Chain team, and all stakeholders who have services within the projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develops a comprehensive understanding of assigned projects to effectively manage the coordination of people, resources, best practices, and standards required to accomplish and achieve objectives.
- Creates long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines.
- Assigns work needs to complete the project within Supply Chain and collaborates with other departments to assure tasks are completed timely
- Coordinates all projects where Supply Chain is a participant with users, leadership, members of the Supply Chain department, Infection Prevention Control, and third party contract management needs as necessary.
- Reviews and establishes a project plan specific to Supply Chain.
- Delegates tasks on the project to maintenance employee’s best positioned to complete them.
- Assures all FFE, contracts, operational tasks, and ongoing services are established.
- Creates teams to manage Supply Chain needs and sits on committees related to the projects identified. This includes summarizing needs of the Supply Chain department within the project plan.
- Is responsible for assuring project plan deadlines are met.
- Works with the end user to assure expectations are met.
- Provides daily oversight, management, and coordination for contracted services, equipment, supplies, and installations are completed to specifications.
- Responsible for gathering user manuals, fire ratings, training documents as needed.
- Will coordinate with end users regarding documents and training needed.
- Positions will act as the point of contact for education and document gather with vendors
- Plans and allocates appropriate resources for annual capital project budget requests.
- Coordinates requests for quotes, bids and RFPs as needed. Facilitates and manages the design process, including design professionals, key users, administration, and contractors for capital and special projects.
- All efforts and requests will be coordinate through project meetings.
- Completes a full review looking for opportunities to improve the process with both internal and external customers.
- Reviews products and services for standardization, efficiency, and financial implications while making recommendations to the project teams.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs related and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
