Radiology maintains a small group of Physician Assistants that support various Divisions within the department. Tasks will include inpatient consults and Pre/Post Procedure Unit support for Interventional Radiology, Paracentesis and Thoracentesis for Ultrasound, and other minor procedures throughout Radiology.
Responsibilities:
- Provide inpatient consults and support for the Pre/Post Procedure Unit in Interventional Radiology.
- Perform Paracentesis and Thoracentesis for Ultrasound, along with other minor procedures throughout Radiology.
- Collaborate with physicians and other health care professionals to provide comprehensive care for assigned patients.
- Work as a first assist in the operating room or perform complex procedures regularly, which is greater than 50% of their time.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and provide coverage for various shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Assess and manage common acute and chronic illnesses, consult and make referrals, and collaborate with the health care team.
- Obtain patient history, conduct comprehensive assessments, order, conduct, and interpret diagnostic tests.
- Prescribe pharmacological agents and treatments, as well as non-pharmacological therapies.
- Monitor the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions and make appropriate referrals.
- Perform minor procedures as approved by the AZ Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants.
- Involve in patient and family education of disease management and treatments.
- Participate in research or educational activities within the department.
- Serve as mentors and participate in clinical improvement and research projects.
- Demonstrate leadership through involvement on committees and team projects, education, and research.
- Remain active in professional organizations and participate in community activities.
- Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient and staff needs.
- Manage time and stress effectively and adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.

Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the AZ State Board of Medical Practice.
Additional Qualifications:
Active BLS and ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date, or Advanced Radiology Life Support (ARLS) and DEA registration required
