Lawyer / Senior Lawyer, Technology (12 month contract)

What’s the role?

We have a great opportunity for an experienced technology lawyer to join a talented, collegiate and high-performing team. You will be directly involved in a broad range of matters, including significant technology and telecommunications procurement and outsourcing arrangements, cyber security, AI, data and privacy. In addition, Westpac is currently undertaking some significant transformation projects and you will have the opportunity to work closely with technology business partners and key stakeholders on a range of strategic initiatives. 

 Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Reviewing, drafting, and leading negotiations on technology contracts and transactions. 
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support our legal and risk strategy, including Westpac Group’s compliance with laws and internal policies in a proactive manner. 
  • Briefing stakeholders on legal issues, status of negotiations and identifying matters for escalation.

What do I need? 

We are seeking experienced technology lawyers who have the following skills and experience: 

  • 8+ years’ PQE including experience gained in a large corporate or private practice environment. 
  • Proven experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of complex technology contracts (particularly on the customer side). 
  • Experience with Australian privacy law and data security regulation. 
  • A keen interest in staying updated with relevant legal developments and sharing insights with your team and key stakeholders. 
  • A solutions-focused mindset with excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
