The Planning Governance Engineer supports the Planning function’s successful project delivery, team member development, and engagement. The role supports the development of and maintain and facilitate a Governance framework, including the structures and processes that establish the Planning function’s strategic direction, professional standards, oversee the delivery of compliant and consistent outputs, monitor key risks, and report on its performance. The role may influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies, and practices.

  • Develop and implement a functional governance framework to support successful project delivery.
  • Govern quality of function’s documentation and application of ISI’s Quality Management System (QMS) to help ensure high quality products and compliance with ISO 9001:2015.
  • Develop and maintain the tools, processes, and resources that support the Framework to help ensure successful execution and realization of objective. 
  • Support risk identification and response to support achieving business objectives.
  • Manage and execute initiatives that support the components of the Governance framework applying change management principles. 
  • Bachelor of Engineering degree or equivalent experience in Shipbuilding, Manufacturing, Construction, or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or equivalent required. 
  • ISO 9001 Certification an asset.
  • Experience in quality management, quality assurance, process management, and change management.
  • Good technical aptitude, fast learner, and effective problem solver.
  • Strong organization and task management.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, experience presenting and influencing leadership.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
