The Portfolio Contract Manager oversees the management of assigned contract categories within IU Health’s supply chain. This role involves developing category strategies, leading strategic sourcing initiatives, negotiating multi-million dollar contracts, and ensuring optimal cost and performance outcomes. The manager collaborates with clinical and operational leaders, suppliers, and group purchasing organizations to optimize vendor relationships, standardize products, and identify new technologies. This position requires independent judgment, strategic thinking, and relationship-building skills to support the overall supply chain and clinical effectiveness strategies.Key Responsibilities  
  • Develop and implement category strategies in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Lead negotiations for contracts with local, national, and international suppliers.
  • Ensure best cost positions through market analysis, supplier negotiations, and product standardization.
  • Monitor supplier performance, conduct business reviews, and manage vendor relationships.
  • Collaborate with clinical councils and operational leaders to support initiatives like standardization, utilization, and emerging technologies.
  • Coordinate new product, capital, and technology requests related to contract categories.
  • Ensure all contract terms are aligned with legal, financial, and operational requirements and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Partner with group purchasing organizations on strategy, benchmarking, and opportunities.
  • Conduct retrospective analyses of initiatives and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support strategic sourcing and procurement activities, including managing contract lifecycle from development through execution.
Qualifications & Experience  
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; healthcare management, business administration, supply chain management, or related analytical discipline preferred.
  • Certifications: CMRP preferred.
  • Experience: 5-7 years of healthcare supply chain, contract management, or related experience; equivalent skills and experience considered.
  • Skills:
    • Project management, presentation development, analytics, and customer service.
    • Contract negotiation, sourcing strategy development, and contract lifecycle management.
    • Strong verbal and written communication, leadership, business acumen, and strategic thinking.
    • Relationship building, collaboration, and negotiation skills.
    • Data analysis and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint; experience with statistical software and supply chain systems is a plus.
  • Additional: Ability to travel as needed to various locations.
