About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi

We have an opportunity for a Senior Investment Strategist to join our Investment Strategy team. As a Senior Investment Strategist, you’ll contribute to ACC’s investment performance through strategic asset allocation, portfolio construction, and asset liability management.

A key focus of this role is leading the setting of public market equivalents (PMEs) for private market transactions. This includes leading the Investment Strategy team’s reviews of PMEs and putting forward recommendations to the Chief Investment Officer. You’ll collaborate closely with other teams within the Investments Group to understand direct investment risk profiles, liquidity of the investment and complexity parameters, and refine frameworks, methodologies and related intellectual capital for assessing PMEs.

This is a senior role and is also expected to contribute to broader functions of the Investment Strategy team, including asset allocation, investment strategy and decision-making for multi-asset funds.

Your work will directly influence the Investments Group’s ability to deliver superior long-term returns that support the purpose of ACC.

About you | Mōu

We’re looking for someone with a tertiary qualification in a related discipline and a minimum of ten years’ experience in investment or financial markets within investment strategy or similar. Previous exposure to asset allocation and/or asset liability frameworks is desirable.

Your strengths will include:

Strong understanding of financial markets, financial modelling, risk management, and numerical methods.
Strong analytical skills and quantitative techniques, spanning the areas of statistics, econometrics, asset pricing, and risk.
Good judgement, and an understanding of and ability to follow sound risk management practices.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The ability to establish and leverage effective relationships across a large and complex organisation, including with senior leaders, the Investment Strategy team, and key stakeholders across ACC.
Experience with direct investments and/or project finance is also relevant.
