SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday; 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
SUMMARY
Responsible for processing mail and packages, keeping accurate records and familiarity with postal equipment, as well as ability to interact with students and employees in friendly professional manner and perform specialized duties as described below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned within classification.
- Process incoming, outgoing and College mail and packages, including forwarding of mail
- Pick up, sort and deliver mail/packages as required
- Assign mail boxes for faculty, staff and students as required
- Ensure outgoing mail conforms to United States Post Office rates and requirements
- Greet customers, maintain facilities, check ID’s and sell postage as assigned, complete sales on POS system. Operate computerized, electronic, and automated mailing equipment
- Certify and insure College mail where required
- Maintain a faculty, staff, student package area
- Distribute flyers as indicated on job tickets
- Operate post office vehicles as assigned and maintain gas/mileage record log as assigned
- Log and capture mail volumes and meter readings
- Wear uniform and safety shoes per Union contract
- Maintain an interest in learning new ideas
- Ability to speak and listen effectively and respectfully with supervisors, customers, and employees of the College
- Maintain an appropriate image and dress
- Establish and maintain a high level of customer service
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have one year retail experience and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); one year demonstrated proficiency with computers and experience operating cash registers and handling money.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as postal documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak and listen effectively with supervisors/customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to count money and make change appropriately. Proficiency in using units of money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to utilize or learn basic computer functions.

Valid driver's license.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, hot and/or cold conditions; moving mechanical parts. The noise level is usually moderate.

- May be required to attend employer sponsored classes or seminars aimed at improving skills
- Understand proper use of chemicals used in the performance of position duties and be familiar with the Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- May be required to work overtime or weekends with minimal notice
- Special mailings may be subcontracted based on availability of personnel, scheduling and size of mailings
Pay rate: $21.08/hour
