Basic Job Functions:
- Provide technical and professional leadership to all service suppliers for non-manufacturing sites.
- Maintain preventive maintenance (PM) records and other pertinent data that is required by authorities to provide evidence of legal compliance.
- Keep all required technical documents up to date, including but not limited to electrical schematics, architectural, P&I and fire protection drawings.
- Work on cross functional teams to improve site availability and utilization.
- Maintain the stock of relevant spare parts.
- To liaise with contractors or external suppliers and clearly communicate First Solar safety rules and procedures.
- Responsible for obtaining bids and placing orders for supplies, materials, services, and equipment.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred) and 8 + years of relevant work experience or Associate Degree with 10+ years’ experience in a similar position.
Required Skills/Competencies:
- Strong analytical, communication and organizational skills.
- Proficient use of all Microsoft Office suite programs.
- Knowledge of Engineering Principals and Practices.
- Knowledge of Manufacturing processes.
- Good knowledge of Problem-Solving Tools such as 7 Steps and DMAIC (6Sigma).
- Work Experience with ERP systems, preferably with Oracle.
- Computer skills with mechanical or electrical CAD related experience a plus.
- Basic knowledge of programming language and use of relational database systems.
- Supply Chain-related work experience a plus.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Arrange, participate in and implement site sustaining procedures.
- Create and update site Preventive Maintenance Work Instructions.
- Continuously improve spare part availability.
- Provide or organize training where applicable to service providers.
- Responsible to monitor long term equipment down issues and assist or lead with resolution.
- Responsible for interface with all departments on site to identify, brainstorm, create and implement improvement projects.
- Responsible for interface with shared financial service center to resolve related issues.
- Ability to mentor supervisors of service providers.
- Manages the timely completion of special projects as required.
Reporting Relationships:
- Sr Manager, Recycling Operations & Facilities
- This position will not have direct reports.
Travel:
- Up to 5% of regional travel is expected.
Physical Requirements:
- Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day.
- Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
- Will exert up to 50 pounds of force to lift, push or pull on a seldom basis.
- Will lift, push or pull up to 27 pounds on a frequent basis.
- Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects repetitively on a frequent basis.
- 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required.
- Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
- May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
- May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to, steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards)
- All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair)
